Why on earth would Gus consider taking the captaincy off Greer?

But I agree, Crofts will make the step up if GG is not playing.

Greer for sure, although I'm sure Crofts will "captain" the midfield...

Gerrard, Keane, Souness, Mortimer, Viera, Robson etc etc etc...not all the best captain's are centre backs.

Gerrard - well Liverpool are not exactly a dominant force under his leadership
Keane - He was a superb captain
Souness, Mortimer & Robson I never really saw them play
Viera - Arsenal won very little with him as captain, won more under Adams

Gerrard, has single handeadly kept Liverpool going over the years. God knows where they would be without him. Not to mention, Champions League, UEFA Cup, FA Cups, League Cups....Not to shabby eh???

Greer will be. El-Abd maybe should be.

However, Greer is skipper and Calde is vice-captain. It will stay that way I think. Crofty was a good captain but for the VC role, you can't underestimate Calde's role in the squad. Even if he's not playing he's a good VC.
