Falmer, soon...
Top work guys.

Excuse my ignorance but local politics isn't really my thing. I'm guessing this is just a preliminary exercise and the main purpose is to obtain a seat on LDC. What needs to happen for the Seagulls Party to acheive this?

Again, fine work.

put candidates up at full council elections in spring of 2007

several wards elect 2 or 3 councillors - thus if we just put up ONE candidate in each of such wards - then we will more than likely get elected - along with probably a Lib Dem and / or a Tory

Lib Dems need to lose about 7 seats to lose control of the council:smokin:

Well done Ed. As a Lewes District resident and indeed a resident of Newhaven, I will be voting for the seagulls party!

Will we have someone to vote for in the next general election? Even if the stadium thing is done and dusted it would be nice to vote against Baker without having to resort to being tory!

There are 21 wards electing 41 councillors.

4 wards elect 3 councillors:

East Saltdean & Telcombe Cliffs (3 Lib Dem)
Lewes Priory (2 Lib Dem, 1 Ind.)
Newhaven Denton & Meeching (3 Lib Dem)
Ouse Valley and Ringmer (1 Lib Dem, 2 Ind)

12 wards elect 2 councillors:

Chailey & Wivelsfield (2 Con)
Lewes Bridge (1 Lib Dem, 1 Ind.)
Lewes Castle (2 Lib Dem)
Newhaven Valley (2 Lib Dem)
Peacehaven East (2 Con)
Peacehaven North (2 Con)
Peacehaven West (2 Con)
Seaford Central (2 Lib Dem)
Seaford East (2 Lib Dem)
Seaford North (2 Lib Dem)
Seaford South (2 Lib Dem)
Seaford West (2 Lib Dem)

The rest have just one:
Barcombe & Hamsey (Lib Dem)
Ditchling & Westmeston (Con)
Kingston (Lib Dem)
Newick (Con)
Plumpton, Streat, East Chiltington & St John Without (Lib Dem)

That should add up to 27 Lib Dems, 10 Conservatives and 4 Independents.

I've been trying to find out how many votes all the successful candidates polled at the last election to get an idea of how much support would be needed to actually unseat anyone, but to no avail. That information is surprisingly difficult to get hold of.
