Recommend 1 film from the last 10 years to NSC members. But do try and show some originality and not just say Star Wars The Return of the Sith or whatever its called.

I need some new films to view.

Not for the first time may I put forward this little gem.

I great story, original, inventive and with a tour de force performance by Christian Bale that makes a complete mockery of the Oscar awards that he wasn't even nominted.

Stunning 9.1 out of 10.

F**king Brilliant!, 27 November 2004

Author: Tvandiejie from California

Wow! What a ride, what a movie. I can't help but think Christian Bale deserves better, MUCH better. He already deserved much more credit for Laurel Canyon. He's definitely on my list of brilliant actors now.

I don't want to give away the story, but if you liked Memento or Amores Perros you'll get some sense of the style of story telling: gritty, brooding, shocking.

Trevor Reznik (CB) has not been able to sleep for a year and starts seeing things. Is it just him? Nobody else seems to notice. Past and present merge into one and somebody is leaving him strange messages. His only sanity check seems to be his (bought) girl friend Stevie (extraordinary performance by Jennifer Jason Leigh). Slowly and gradually his search to comprehend what is happening leads him to only one conclusion: I know who you are!

Please don't take my word for it: go see for yourself. You will agree: f**king brilliant!

I saw Lord of War the other night, with Nicolas Cage.
The film was excellent, but he insisted on a KFC whereas I fancied a kebab. Apart from that, it made for an enjoyable evening.

The latest DVD's and films at the Cinema have been gash. Me and my other half even consider seeing the Shaggy Dog Sunday but got a grip and did not go.

I may give Lord of War a check as in general I like Cage.

Seen Delicatessan, pretty good, especially the shagging scene in synchronicity.

One of the best con movies you will ever see., 21 August 2005

Author: pippahinchley-1 from United Kingdom

this is a superb movie that really should have been seen by many many more people than it clearly has been. The best James Woods performance I have seen , superb support from Oliver Platt, Bruce Dern and - well, everyone in it. The script is tight, sharp, incredibly clever and very very funny. I'm not a fan of boxing movies, don't let it put you off. yes, the sting ultimately revolves around a fight, well, ten fights, to be precise, against just one man - but really it's a hugely satisfying con movie that ultimately becomes about vengeance, paying for your actions and finding the morality amongst the money. It's brilliant. Buy it/get it from a video shop that has old movies, steal it, whatever it takes.

Hotel Rwanda is probably the best film made recently. Don Cheadle stars in the true-life story of Paul Rusesabagina, a hotel manager who housed over a thousand Tutsis refugees during their struggle against the Hutu militia in Rwanda.

Top Top film that deserved all the acolades it got.

Narc is also very good, really gritty cop noir with amazing performances by Ray Liotta and Jason Patric.
