Surely you're aware of the song's history? Used as a chant by Wigan fans ("Will Griggs on fire") which was then adopted in some form by most other clubs. It's a football chant in its own right, the same as Sloop John B or Go West.As long as you have fun its all good
Singing along to a pop song played on a PA system would never be part of how I see football culture though. Bit like goal music and cheerleaders.

When I made this thread I wasn't aware how personally and emotionally invested people were in this random fecking 90s one hit wonder. It was a misjudgement obviously as many have expressed its the best thing to ever happen in football etc. Again, we don't have that here. We will never have "listening to this tune on the PA once or twice a month is the best thing that happened to Swedish supporter culture" here - its completely unthinkable - so I made a misjudgement and thought it could be a funny thread about the endless repeating of this song in all kinds of uber-commercialised sports contexts.

I find this a bit of a strange comment. I can see why some people dont like Freed from desire, but to say we can keep our(football) culture, and you niether want, or intend to change to absorb it-then WTF are you here?
