Regulation 13.2 for instance contravenes the Disability Discrimination Act if you happen to be a type 1 diabetic who needs access to fluids in case of a hypo.

right chaps and chapesses this snatchurday I'll be waking up in Brizzle, getting drunk, going to the game with my overnight bag/rucksack (to be decided) as I'm coming home straight after, as i've NEVER taken a bag before I'm worried the STEWARDS will jump off their horses and steal it forever more.....

SO....do they allow things like these into a game arena:

1) DEODORANT - cos I smell innit!
2) PHONE CHARGER - Could this be classed as a WEAPON or something stupid?
3) DIRTY UNDERWEAR - cos i'm bound to shit myself at some point during the night!

any Stewards available for comment? any regulars take bags to games all the time? why hav'nt I had breakfast yet its 12:15pm for f*** sake!?

ta muchly

The stewards stopped my daughter at withdean she had a dedorant in her bag....they said ( seriously) it could be used as a flame thrower....

if your worried you can leave it in my car at Bristol...

That being the case there's a few curry eaters who should also be banned.

Now I'm 66yo I hardly ever get frisked or have my bag given more than a quick glance. Two years ago at Millwall I got properly frisked and had everything removed from my bag, felt like a proper tasty geezer, much better for the ego than the usual "in you go Grandad". The Millwall stewards really know how to treat the elderly with respect.

I almost always take some kind of overnight bag into Withdean and have only had one problem, where I didn't do a good enough job of hiding the deodorant. My advice is:

Take one of those travel deodorant cans and in the morning wrap your gritts around it. There is NO WAY on god's clean earth they'll a) find it or b) want to find it.

Failing that, put it in a sponge bag. They never check them, even though if you have one that's where the deodorant will be.

Marc, you're not intending to steal a load of fertilizer from work, and blow us all up are you? Please advise, as if you, are I'll stay up in the main stand, rather than coming down to join the away fans.

Thanks x

I was actually planning on showering the fans with grass clippings in the place of paper cuttings when the teams came out

I take a bag with me to most games as long as you are willing for them to search through it it's not a problem usually......the majority of the time i have mine unzipped and ready for the search and they just give it a cursory glance.

For some reason they also take the airline's view that a water bottle is an offensive weapon. Apparently it can be thrown at players, bizzarely [at Port Vale I think] they said it would be okay if I took the top off and left that behind.

Nothing to do with being a weapon, that's just an excuse. If they don't let you take water in you have to buy it in the ground (where they'll quite happily sell it to you in a bottle! Taking the top off confirms that, you're more likely to drink it quickly and buy another one.

At Southend away last season my brother wasn't allowed to bring his phone charger into the ground, so he had to leave at with a steward who gave it back to him after the game.

That happens at nearly every ground; though at Rovers you're not even allowed it without a lid.

The safety issue at Bristol Rovers and elsewhere is primarily because the club is trying to protect its...................profits.

A couple of seasons back my twelve year old was prevented taking a 330cl ish bottle of Coke into the family stand at Withdean because - according to the particular steward we had- it was a potential weapon and we couldn't take it in full but without the lid either. So I was a bit suprised that I could buy a bottle of Coke for the same money inside!

They took an un-open can of beer off me at Watford, Not like i was going to drink it or anything :D

When we were celebrating promotion at the last game of the season at Shrewsbury, I was told quite firmly by a steward that I wasn't allowed to take a half-full bottle of champagne into the ground. But he was perfectly happy to help me drink it.

Went to Withdean straight from coming home from uni once and they confiscated some deodorant from my bag.

I'm sure there's a smelly student gag in here somewhere...
