What a silly, arrogant thread. You still need 18-22 points to be certain of staying up!

So when Palace were up near the top there weren't any threads about possibly getting promotion on the BBS? Get over yourself

If you were asked to say which team looked liked Premier League promotion candidates based purely on today's performance at the Amex, you'd opt for neither. Obviously. And if somebody put a gun to your head and FORCED you to choose, you'd probably opt for Forest. Luckily, that's not how life is.

The scary thing is that we could be in this league position come the day of reckoning and it's anybody's shout once in the play offs. I suspect Mr Bloom would have to dig deep if we did make it up though

this is it, it's perfectly dignified in getting to the p/o final and losing, the trip to wembley would be great

I really am getting sick of these threads. IF we get promoted then we ARE good enough to get promoted and we'd obviosupy completely change the team anyway.

I think you're probably right but looking at the table tonight I can't quite believe where we are, especially considering recent performances. Should we be in a similar position come April, which is entirely plausible, I can't help be reminded of the brilliant quote from the film Withnail & I - "we've gone on holiday by mistake". Could we get promoted by mistake? ???

I for one am loving the season so far - anything above an unsuccessful relegation scrap would be acceptable to me...

For the last ten years, we've been a 'bounce' team - bouncing between the Championship and League 1. It's been exciting, and hasn't done us any harm. We are now a genuine Championship club - no longer the plucky little minnows punching above our weight. We're not the biggest - or even the best - but we're well up the ladder.

What would be wrong with spending the next few seasons bouncing between the Premiership and the Championship? Same wonderful roller-coaster ride that we've known and loved for ten years, with the added bonus of huge parachute payments. Sounds good to me! I don't expect us to go up this season............but I'd love it if we did. One of the happiest moments of my life was listening to Sports Report when the results were read out, and the first name on the radio was...........Brighton and Hove Albion!

i like this post very much

I've seen your posts before and you're always so angry!? Think you need to get some help for that or go out and get laid.

lol, alright that's an amusing observation. anger is the conduit through which amusing rants against the enemy flow. if i raise a smile for any of our lot and nail any of your lot to the post whilst doing so then it is a job well done.

palace fans (primarily thick and coarse ones) coming on here give me my daily dose of rageahol, to which i am slightly addicted, ok?!!!

i confess i don't get laid enough for my liking... but who does? jeez

Play-offs would prove to free agents that we are ready to push for the Prem, and in the summer could attract the 2 or 3 truely Prem class players we would need to add to our current squad with a year in Champ behind them. Think what we'd be like with Bennett, a top young keeper who can pass it about a bit, and one other top player added.

I can't believe we are 6th when apparently we're complete crap according to most on here. Imagine the melt-down on the Derby, Ipswich, Reading, Leicester boards right now?

We just to have enjoy this ride. If we go up, this year or next or the one after, then we will be huge favourites to come down, and that is when Poyet and our best players will undoubtedly leave. That's the cycle of football. So we have to enjoy the here and now because it may never be better than this in our lifetime.

The money and parachute payments seems to be meaningless. Its hard to see what good it did Barnsley or Bradford or Swindon or Watford or Burnley or Derby or Sheffield United or Norwich (from a few years back), they all came down quickly and in many cases fell through to League 1 or worst
