It's going up !!!

Anyone looking forward to seeing chocolate coloured condoms festooning the shrubberies of Preston park this weekend along with the gay pornagraphic leaflets scattered liberally around the area despite them claiming it's a "family" event

Can't wait :nono:

Will be trying to vacate town.

Used to be better - when it first started - with freedom and sexual expression as the unifying factors.

Now it's about wankers from London and wherever getting boxed and trashing the town. Great.

Does it bring money to or cost the city of Brighton & Hove?

If it's the latter I suggest SCRAP it.

B&H city council pay SERIOUS money towards it. The event runs at a substantial loss and YOUR council tax money bails it out every year.

I don't go and can't help looking at the leaflets as i have to help pick them up.

I suppose in this politically correct world of tree hugging do-gooders, you'd be happy for your 6 or 7 year old daughter to read such leaflets would you at this "family event" ?....maybe you'd be happy to explain to them what "those men in the shrubberies" are doing when you take the dog for a walk in the park on the sunday morning

i think the point being made was that it becomes unavoidable for the residents around Preston Park. have to say if its getting like that then the organisers need to clean up their act, quite literally.

If I did have a 6-7 year old daughter and she saw such a leaflet I would not be too worried. I dont think a child would be too affected by a single leaflet. Living in your household might affect and damage them more.

I have never had a truck with parents who moan about adults swearing close to their children. Simply tell the child that is not the way to behave. If the child comes from a decent house where swearing isnt the norm then it is unlikely they will pick up any bad habits from a single incident.

Tough. The park is for everyone not just those that live in the area. So what if local people are inconvenienced by a few weekends over the course of the year. I used to live opposite Finsbury Park and the din from some of the gigs was deafening. I just accepted other peoples right to a good time and appreciated it will be back to normal in a few weeks.

This weekend is also gay pride in amsterdam - to me it is a chance to drink beer on the streets looking at all the boats on the canals full of people dressed over the top and having fun. Sadly I have important exam on Monday so can't get too wasted (so i say now feeling sensible).

A mate of mine once made a good comment. He said the good thing about gay events is that it runs the idiots out of town. They dont come anywhere near something like this which makes for a decent and chav free afternoon.

I think the council pay 60k towards it...but the return is millions for the economy. Bit of a no-brainer.....just like the author of this thread.

It brings a bucket load of cash into the city, if it is not your thing, find something else to do. At the end of the day it is only the parade to the park that will inconvience people for a couple of hours.

Have to say normally it is on the opening day of the season, so am not in Brighton when it is on. If the cricket goes to a fourth day will probably head to Horsham, but anything that brings cash into the city is a good thing.

Exactly, the atmosphere is superb and the whole event is a joy to watch.Very little chance of being mugged or attacked by chavs.Brighton is well known for this event so lets be proud of it.
