Captain I'm not to keen on you after some of your posts but you can come the phone-in anytime. For the record as regards Mr lloyd and myself time is a great healer, I can never regret anything I wrote or said during the Gulls Eye years but having interviewed Barry for an SCR 1 hour special there were some things that never came out about him during his time.

i thought the phone in was for people like me (a fan), so is Barry Lloyd a great fans of the Albion or suminit? can you ask him from the genius what he thought of the constant chanting of "LLOYD OUT" towards the end of his time with the club and tell him i was delighted when he left, thank u.

FG You insignificant insect sporn, you have as much intelligence as a retarded swamp rat. Your comments are not witty nor funny, nor even controversial (due to the fact, to be controversial you have to have a shred of credibility), you are a sad piece of wombat poo, who associates himself with a club he clearly hates...

You, my little foolish freak, are actually not worth it :salute:

dont matter
Those of us who watched the Albion under Lloyd, will remember him as dour and miserable, hardly great qualities for a phone in guest.
However, can someone ask him, why he persisted in playing crap like Crumplin, Cooper and Tiltman over some of the more talented (i.e. could actually pass the ball) players we had at the time.

John Byrne and Mike Small were both signed by LLoyd. Wish we could find similar quality freebies today.

He also played Tiltman in preference to Dean Saunders so maybe he just got lucky with Small and Byrne.

I seem to remember we got to the playoffs under lloyd conceding more goals than we scored, which is bizarre.

on balance i trhink its fair to say he had his heights and lows and no thats not me sitting on the fence but in the end despite as u rightly say Small was one best strikers we eveer had million times better than lazy zamora or can i keep on my feet leon, in the end Lloyd had to go and i am happy to have chanted LLOYD OUT towardsthe end anyway answer the question Harty is Lloyd an Albion fan or not?

can we have Brian Clough the following week? oh and Bill Archer that might improve your radio ratings! :lolol: you could always invite the genius himself on there that should get the phone ringing!
PS was dissapointed not to have got on when Adams was on as id loved to have told him what i thought of the lucky g** success by luck and ask him how well is he doing this season with Lester! I think Wolves answered that one:lolol:

Can anyone translate from inane drivel to English? I reckon FG must a Russian agent and talks in code all the time.

Did he not threaten to deck bellotti (or Archer)?

top man in my book for that alone.

oh and he took us to wembley
and he made us a reasonable team to watch after the Mullery 86 shambles
and the results against supposedly bigger clubs weren't too bad.
1-1 and 0-1 v Manchester utd
2-2 and 2-3 (aet) v Liverpool
4-0 v Newcastle

IMHO it was a lot better than people gave him credit for.

Sorry to have upset ya Harty, SCR phone in is much much better and in a way I sort of miss those brain dead people that phoned in. No hard feelings. Will be listening with interest to the Barry Lloyd stuff. Lloyd used to get alot of stick from me regarding the way he thought football should be played, ie. get Gary O'Reilly and Bernard Gallagher to hoof the ball into opposition corners but Lloyd could certainly spot a bargain and we could do with a little of his scouting ability now. Would like to ask him why he didn't appreciate Garry Nelson and told him he was dropped in the play off Final at Wembley an 30 mins before the game and why he never went on to another football league club. Also what freindship he had with the board at the time as all of them then were all ex worthing and just got their mate Lloyd a job when other candidates namely Cattlin, could have been tempted.

Although Lloyd is OK as a person (he still smokes too much though), I could'nt like him as a manager of The Albion because....

He took over when Chris Catlin was forced out - a black day in the history of the Club.

He played favourites and held grudges (often for a very long time) against some of the players - read Garry Nelson's book. By refusing to play Nelson at Wembley he did the club a great disservice.

He sold Dean Saunders for £60K and without a sell-on clause . What's more, he thought that Tiltman was a better player!

He held the fans in contempt, and was extremely uncommunicative. Although this may have been in response to the 'Lloyd out' campaign, he still made little or no effort to patch things up.

I think you will find that Saunders was sold due to bank pressure as much as anything else. I don't recall a huge hue and cry when Deano went because he was a good, but not spectacular Div 2 striker at the time ( 6 goals from 30 appearances in the season he was sold is hardly going to cause Ronaldo et al sleepless nights). He worked hard and became a better player.

Tiltman, however, was pants, apart from one performance at Barnsley, where he scored a cracker and also hit the bar, had their defenders briking themselves........but we still lost and he returned to being shite

Crumplin was class towards the begining of the 90's and did a number on John Barnes at Anfield. At the start of his Albion career he could hit the top of the stand with a cross everytime. Was much better as a rightback, always gave his all. As for the other two. Yeah agree.
