I also worked for the CAA for 5 years in their safety regulation group and at the entrance to the office in very big letters is says "Safety is no accident" - nuff said?

Safety is the number 1 goal of everyone involved in the aviation industry. That doesn't change the fact that the response from EASA and the CAA to the icelandic volcano eruption was completely dis-proportionate to the perceived 'threat'.

Done - our school had it's head teacher 'stuck' in the Caribbean. Needless to say we all messed about and went home early until he got back. Most of the pupils were unaffected by his absence.
