Postpone to a later date. Friday will be no good as I think there is also a strike on the Thursday and also I will be going pm holiday on the Sunday.

I'm intrigued as to how the majority of people will get there with no trains and no parking. Obviously locals can walk/cycle/catch a bus (albeit buses tend to be pretty maxed out for a normal game). And if you DO try to drive, where the hell should you park?

There was no segregation at the away game last season either, away gates just opened post-match onto the road.

And this made for a much easier getaway for us. I was really not looking forward to the post-match kettling. Was nice to escape the crowds and disappear cheerfully into the night.

When there have been strikes or no trains in the past (for various reasons) then the Plan B has been a mix of buses/coaches (from Lewes, Brighton Station and elsewhere) and extra temporary Park and Rides. That said, its only a fortnight away, certain locations for park and ride would be impractical on a normal Saturday (eg: Sainsburys/West Hove) and there is the added complexity of extra security/Palace.

I'm not sure how people from outside Sussex will do it. Palace will probably lay on extra official coaches but no doubt the Goon Squad will charter their own like they did when they all got busted for charlie, park it in town and then demand a police escort.

Easy for me - 49 from Portslade Station, pint in The Bevy, nice refreshing walk through Moulsecoomb. But many will struggle.

Can't see them moving it at such short notice unless it goes to later in the season/mid week. Suspect police plan this fixtures many months in advance so will be tricky for them. Probably depends whether the normal train that takes the black hoodie mob off via Lewes to London is still going to run. If not they may consider. But I guess they could replace with a coach bubble like Pompey v Saints?

ps) I also hope they don't move it as I am away Sunday-Tuesday having thought this was nailed down for saturday at 3pm.

Yep. There were lots of reasons for Brentford no shows - transport especially - but it was just one factor.
There have been other , admittedly only a few, games in the last 10 years with no trains but a full ish ground.
I'm hoping it goes ahead and the club can step into the breach (its expensive and they have limited options but its not a complete non starter) but we'll see.

I just read a document from August 2011 in which a survey was conducted of how fans travelled to the Amex. The percentage figure given for using the train was 44.7% - in today’s money that would equate to 13,857 of a 31,000 crowd. Let’s round that up to 14,000. So if the powers that be dictate that the match goes ahead what is the likelihood that those 14,000 can get to the Amex by any means other than by train?

Park and Ride sites will no doubt be filled very quickly and therefore many fans turned away.

Car parks in Brighton and Hove will also be filled to capacity - again same result as P&R.

Those lucky enough to have got to Brighton, Hove or Lewes will then have to go by bus or taxi to the Amex.

Yes, obviously. Although, with the amount of traffic congestion en route, the time span of fans wanting to get to the ground (1.00 to 3.00 pm) and all the other negative factors that will occur, it may well be that it will equate to one bus, one journey.

Demand for the match is high so its unlikely to affect the attendance to any significant degree. I dont think you can use Brentford Boxing Day as much of a comparison because other transport i.e. busses will be running. Car parks will be open. There is of course also street parking and the entire City will not be closed to that. If you are determined you can walk from Waterhall or other edges of the City that wont be closed. Arrive very early and there are busses taxis or your legs. Some fans (include Pal@rse) will stay overnight in he City especially at the weekend and booze up and kick off. The City Centre could have many flashpoints rather than a central hub of the station and that will make policing difficult. There is no way the police want this going ahead on that basis and yet they would be powerless to stop it. There then is the arrival and departure of fans. A 3pm ko is a complete disaster for policing anyway as they wont be able t close all the drinking establishments ahead of KO hence why we get lunchtime 12pm ko to try and avoid the drinking culture and related trouble. IF and of course everything is an IF at this stage he game was moved to an early ko say 12pm then it would be a nightmare for fans to get there because of the over-reliance on rail transport. I predict a move to Monday evening 8pm ko although Friday and Sunday also possible. Monday must be the preference as its away from the weekend and furthest I believe from knock on rail disruption, but thats very debatable. It looks unlikely the government hard line of no striking will take effect soon enough which is a shame. The club have made no announcement perhaps because there isnt anything to announce but even if they said we are looking into this would be helpful. They must be though I cant see them not talking with PL and Police.

You can't play the game on Monday as players will be going for the international break then.
