Pacific Poker - anyone play the demo money ?

I've been seduced by the green baize splendour of the Pacific Poker 888.com advert thats been adorning the top of NSC for the last few weeks, and have succumbed to the addictive delights of demo-money online poker (Texas Hold em' mainly).

My initial £1000 has now swelled to just over £1400, and I'll be working hard to increase that further tonight. I'm a bit scared at playing for real money at the moment though...the football betting is going well lately, but I dread to think of her reaction if she found out I was playing cards for money over the net...it took me long enough to explain to Mrs Easy that this is only demo money

My login name is EasyTen. Anyone else signed up to this ? Whats your login name ? How COOL would it be to get a load of NSC-ers around an online poker table one night ? There's a little chatroom on the table and EVERYTHING.

I know I'm sad, but that would really be quite exciting.

Take your point - you're obviously more likely to perceivere (sp ?) with an iffy hand on demo money than you would for real. But as far as bluffing goes, how much can you really bluff someone online anyway ? Take longer on your decisions ? Thats about all you can do, you can't try to read or interpret other players reactions like you can in reality. Just bluffing all the time defeats the object, as not that many people just "fold" with demo money anyway, so you'd end up losing far more than you win.

Its ultimately pointless with demo money I suppose, but personally I'm just trying to get my stash up as much as possible and enter one of the tournaments. Its still good fun.

Errr...the 'play money' tournaments are for, like, REAL money though right ? I'm not sure I can handle that kind of commitment at this stage. I broke into a cold sweat last night over raising to $8 with a pair of sixes...

I did post a thread about an NSC table/tournament but it got a lukewarm response.

Play for real Easy - it is great fun. You don't need a lot - on the smaller money tables there's loads of people playing with under $10. Just make sure if you do play for real, you deposit enough to take advantage of the 25% bonus for as much as you want or are able.

Cheers Bozza, will bear that in mind. If I DID play for real cash, it would only be for piddly amounts. I generally do have the self-restraint, even when drunk. Similar to the dogs, I only take £20 along for bets, and once its gone, its GONE.

Played both "play" money and real money. Tournaments are available for both as well.

Managed to get to the final table in one No Limits tournament and finished 4th out of 100

I play the demo money, I know yes it is quite pointless as it's not REAL money but it's still good fun, i'm upto just over $4000 by playing on the $5-$10 limit tables. My usernames Dan32135.

I bet the punters in the demo games are computer generated to entice you into playing with your hard earned real cash !!

From the verbal spats on the chat that I have had with many a player when i've just lost/won i think they are real.

I'm doing quite well. Upto 25k my dad, who has far too much free time was upto 160k but is now at 141k.

Its lots of fun without the pressure of losing money.

Sounds like Manx is talking about casinos rather than Poker rooms.

There is a distinct difference, I think. In poker rooms, the house makes it's money by taking a small cut of every pot - it wins every hand that is played. Casinos are obviously different.

Regardless, my experiences of online casinos recently has been very good when it comes to being 'fair'.
