Keepers do their homework on the takers so does it happen in reverse in which case anybody having watched the highlights of Brentfords JPT wiulltell you that Lees strong side is his left ,being left handed and footed. So why put it that side hard to his right was the required placing or whack it hard down the middle, guessing he would dive to one side or another.

FFS barnes still has a 75% conversion rate. He keeps the role.

We need to get back to the days of when a penalty virtually gauranteed us a goal. Did Nobby Horton miss any and long before him Jim Langley.

Our most succesfull penalty taker of the last 20 years (% wise) must be either Hammond or Knight.

???Does anyone know if we'd have any more points if we had a better penalty conversion rate?
It seems we miss more than we score?

Why do penalty takers do a stutter - I am sure it puts the penalty taker off more than confuses the keeper. Just take a confident run up and hard into the corner. Easier said than done - but doing a stutter makes it even harder shirley ?

Interesting that Poyet mentioned in his post match interview the possibility of brining in a "specialist" penalty taker for next season.

No. Nobody does, because it doesn't work like that.

How does that work?

Had we scored the penalty at Huddersfield we would have got a draw 1 point and at Southampton would have won so another 3 points. I accept that had the penalties been scored the match may have taken a different route but the facts are that we would have 4 extra points.

You've answered your own question, haven't you? (although your maths are wrong) If the pens had gone in, the match would have taken a different course. End of. We MAY have won / drawn those games. We may not have. At Saints, going behind MIGHT have spurred them on to the extent that we could have LOST the game. Its all just conjecture.

The only one that you could argue as pretty much FACT, is that we would have beaten FCUM at the first attempt if Bennett had scored, as that was in the 95th minute.

I actually thought Barnes penalty was alright at Brentford.

Fairly hard, low, pretty near the corner.

The ones that annoy me are the ones at waist height for the keeper so if he gusses right its likely he'll save it, just hit it bottom or top corner and its normally good enough.

Good save on this occasion.
