Because they are the fans who buy the tickets at the sporting venues or watch the sports on TV and cheer these people on. You obviously don't like sport much. What are you doing on a football forum?

I have never ever watched a minute of the X Factor, or Strictly Come Dancing, or I'm a Celebrity, or any Soap.

Honestly folks, there are really better things to be doing during the relatively short time we are on this earth.

Watching any awards show (sports, Oscars, etc.) is one of the most excruciating experiences you on TV.
