takes us into the debate, after you fail 3 times should you really be allowed to continue testing until you pass?
I know an old woman who took 8 attempts and she's a f***ing shit driver, I reckon after 3 fails you wait 2 years ebfore trying again and get just 2 goes. if you fail after that then you are not allowed to drive!
The whole driving, exam, road usage thing needs to be tightened up....and fast!
Also a re-test after 20 years driving and/or when you hit 65 years old then a test every 2 years after your 70th birthday.
3rd time back in 1977.........................first 2 attempts I only failed on one thing.
27 years later and I have never had so much as a scratch..........touch wood
i failed three times, lack of observation twice and distinct inability to park the first time, i waasn't raedy and me and my instructor both knew that. Plus 2 of the 3 were in the afternoon so the testers had already filled their pass quotas for the day
When i finally passed i had 1 minor fault and apparently touch and go. It's been downhill ever since, i'm shit at driving.
my instructor was a Palace fan and I wore my old Sandtex top at the time, I'll never forget it when we stopped by Hove Park Tavern and he said:
"Whats that smell coming from down there?" pointing to the then Goldstone Ground
But the best was saved for last:
"I dont like doing this to a Brighton fan....but you've passed"
Failed the first time - was put off by the fact that the instructor tried to wind down the window and the handle fell off in his hand. Then I was stuck at the level crossing (by the Rocket in Crawley) for 10 minutes. I was a gibbering wreck by then and it went downhill from there. Passed second time.
Passed on my 5th attempt. I come from a long line of shit drivers. My brother took 5 attempts to pass and my sister six! On my 3rd attempt about 2 mins into the test I forgot to put the handbrake on for a hill start and ended up rolling down a very steep hill. My examiner nearly got whiplash!
