I'm keeping up very well thanks. Like every season you're on here moaning about one subject, yet it's one you've admitted that you don't know more about than the recruitment team. You claim to be discerning but won't name names, just a "type". You've not even addressed the elephant in the room which is that we currently have Maupay, Andone, Locadia, Welbeck, Connolly, Tau and Zeqiri. SEVEN strikers.
Now, none of us want to keep Locadia and personally I think Connolly could do with a season's loan but it's likely given that all seven are drawing wages and those that are not injured are training, that we'll need to ship out before we can buy in. No?
I said this in the middle of last season and I'll say it again. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Welbeck, Maupay, Andone, Tau and Zeqiri are our striker options at the end of the window.
1. We don’t have seven strikers IMHO. Tau and Zeq are forwards, not strikers.
2. Locadia must be binned off. I agree.
3. That leaves Welbs (the only striker we have who is Prem quality IMHO, but always injured), Maupay (lost form last season, but may just about be good enough), Andone (recovering from a horrible injury, a red card in waiting, and may just reach Maupay standard), and Connolly (needs a loan out, I agree).
So, in conclusion, we must sign a striker.
I would never claim to know more than our recruitment army; never have, never will. But I am entitled to my opinion, that they have failed to land a Muzza replacement that we so obviously need if we are going to achieve Tony’s publicly stated goal (top 10).

Well researched, but still wrong. The expression is definitely to pick holes in something, not to poke holes. It's a bit like confirming it's ok to leave a g off a word because Alex Scott does it. It's still wrong.
Not so sure about Zeqiri. He is a player I really like and it’s been reported that his teammates love him (unlike Andone) but he seems to be one of those (like Burn) who rarely plays in the position the majority of fans imagine he should play at. I think Cucurella could cover off the position Potter mostly plays him in.
I think, like Connolly, a good loan would help out.
It’s quite rare that strikers develop early. Newcastle shifted Armstrong & Toney when they were young but both are now top level Championship strikers who deserve a crack at the top level and are both arguably better than what Newcastle have with the exception of Wilson (who’ll struggle, like Lamptey & Welbeck to play 20 games).
I think we’re likely to sign Mitoma but won’t get him until 2022 at some point, he’ll be a punt like Tau.
As for a new striker, you’re right in that we’ll mostly keep what we have but I still strongly suspect the club are after a £20m+ signing. Whether they’ll get one of their targets is debatable. I suspect we’ll have to wait until the end of the window to find out.

Well researched, but still wrong. The expression is definitely to pick holes in something, not to poke holes. It's a bit like confirming it's ok to leave a g off a word because Alex Scott does it. It's still wrong.
It seems Americans tend to say "poke holes".

I just feel we are missing (badly) a Muzza type of striker. Darwin seems to fit the bill.

You fool [emoji6] I’m setting my sights on a Messi 2. And I’ll give this expert advice to the recruitment team free of charge. Just find a Messi 2 or a Shearer 2. As the kids would say, “simples”.
I'm English too and would certainly go for "pick holes", but clearly that's not universal. The Americans love a poke and, apparently, it is used on occasion by British English speakers too. As far back as 1967 an MP (Sir Marcus Worsley) said this in parliament: "It is easy enough to poke holes in this proposition". I found a second example from the 90s in the House of Lords from a debate on pornographic and violent TV.
This is more fun than the "will he, won't he" Odsonne saga, isn't it?

Yes, exactly. If finding and signing great strikers at bargain prices was as simple as some people on here seems to think, then every club would score 100 goals a season. Edouard doesn't look worth the money and although Nunez is probably better, is he good enough for us to risk £35m+ on him? That could be a complete waste of the majority of the cash we'll be getting for White, who proved his worth in the Premier League.
We know Maupay is capable of double figures in league goals because we've seen him do it. But there's no evidence that anyone who has been mentioned is.
