Obscure places known only because of their football teams

There seem to be quite a few in our league. If it weren't for their football teams, would we have even heard of places like Huddersfield, Walsall, Rochdale and Tranmere?

I think you'd have heard of Huddersfield and Rochdale, probably not Walsall though, and definitely not Tranmere as people just call the local area Birkenhead.

Rushden would be one, along with Irthlingborough. Had genuinely never heard of either place until they came up with a football team.

Alloa Athletic is my local team. Alloa is in the "wee county" of Clackmannanshire about 10 miles from Stirling on the north bank of the river Forth and it is a sh!thole.

Stenhousemuir is a bolt on to Falkirk. For such a small town (about twice the size of Lewes) Falkirk has a disproportionate number of senior football clubs (3) and train stations (4). Falkirk FC (The Bairns), Stenhousemuir FC (Stenny) and East Stirlingshire FC (Shire - who had to sell their ground in the centre of Falkirk and are ground sharing with Stenny).
