Cannot say for sure I have not seen the paperwork, but as seagullsovergrimsby has said, it is very likely that it would state in the terms and conditions that they cannot be held liable for any consequential losses in the event of any alteration/cancellation of flights.
CAB would be able to clarify this.

9.2.2.2 within a reasonable period of time re-route you to the destination shown on your Ticket by our own services or those of another carrier, or by other mutually agreed means and class of travel without additional charge.
Might be worth making them do some leg work to see if they can get the OP there and back in a reasonable time frame.
