I dont take Polls seriously after Karen Capenter won best drummer of the year in 1971, just beating into 2nd and 3rd Place John Bonham and Keith Moon ???

i think you'll find that she was voted best drumSTICK!

The Clash-The Clash(think thats the name. Has I fought the law, white riot etc on it)

It is, but I Fought The Law is only on the U.S release which wasn't out until 2 years after the U.K. version.

Oh, and that NME list is the biggest load of shit I've read, but then I've come to expect nothing less from the bunch of self congratulatory wankers.

Okay, my British Top 10:

1. Rubber Soul - The Beatles
2. The Bends - Radiohead
3. The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
4. Definitely Maybe - Oasis
5. Simple Things - Zero 7
6. Up the Bracket - The Libertines
7. Specials - The Specials
9. Fox Base Alpha - St Ettienne
9. The Queen is Dead - The Smiths
10. Pink Moon - Nick Drake

It would seem I have quite a few albums in common with NME, but then I'm an occaisional NME reader and an XFM listener. It's bound to be tailored to their readers tastes...

The Top Ten is as follows:
1. The Stone Roses 'The Stone Roses'
2. The Smiths 'The Queen Is Dead'
3. Oasis 'Definitely Maybe'
4. Sex Pistols 'Never Mind The Bollocks'
5. Arctic Monkeys 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'
6. Blur 'Modern Life Is Rubbish'
7. Pulp 'Different Class'
8. The Clash 'London Calling'
9. The Beatles 'Revolver'
10. The Libertines 'Up The Bracket'

Discuss.

Personally I agree with number one but thats about it.

Wouldn't have Pulp in there. Was indifferent to Morrissey (the CKR of his time, not half as good as he thought he was). Arctic Monkeys, well yada yada, that's the trouble with NME now being a monopoly and having to come up with a new set of darling pop poppets every January. It's OK, but hardly life-changing. Least it spells the slow and fully-deserved death of Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand, music for beefy white male students wot can't dance. Oh well.

Tonight I am mostly choosing:

1) The Clash – The Clash
2) The Fall – Live At The Witch Trials
3) Jesus & Mary Chain - Automatic
4) Leftfield – Leftism
5) Oasis - Definitely Maybe
6) Underworld – Dubnobasswithmyheadman
7) The Adverts – Crossing The Red Sea with The Adverts
8) Primal Scream – Screamadelica
9) Black Grape – It’s Great When You’re Straight Yeah
10) Killing Joke – Killing Joke

It's all down to taste surely. How the Arctic Monkeys album can even get anywhere near the top 10 is beyond me considering it was only released officially on Monday.

My top 10 would be (in no particular order)

Oasis - Definetely Maybe
Suede - Suede
Air - Moon Safari
Saint Etienne - Foxbase Alpha
Kate Bush - The Kick Inside
Nirvana - Nevermind
Radiohead - OK Computer
Hard Fi - Stars of CCTV
The Verve - Urban Hymns
Garbage - Garbage

but it changes almost daily!

My earlier choice has already changed on the way home! I'll take out Radiohead for the time being and put in Stereophonics Performance & Cocktails

what a load of absolute shyte.

The best Album I've ever listened to (and I'll get shot down in flames for this) is The Beatles 'White Album'. I can honestly say every track is brilliant.

This doesn't mean I don't like whats on the radio today, because I do, but it can't and probably never will, match the Beatles. So there. :p

What is the average age of an NME reader and how many albums are they likely to have listened to that weren't made in the last 10 years?

I doubt any of those albums would make the best 10 albums of all time of people over 30. Maybe older people have a shit taste in music, though :)

I loved the Black Grape album, but was it really better that the Monday's Pills, Thrills....?

Surely not.

I am a few years the wrong side of 30, but would still agree with them on some [as follows]
THESE would make my top ten, not necessarily in the top 3 places;
1. The Stone Roses 'The Stone Roses'
2. The Smiths 'The Queen Is Dead'
3. Oasis 'Definitely Maybe'

THESE WOULDN'T
4. Sex Pistols 'Never Mind The Bollocks'
6. Blur 'Modern Life Is Rubbish'
7. Pulp 'Different Class'
8. The Clash 'London Calling'
9. The Beatles 'Revolver'
10. The Libertines 'Up The Bracket'

I HAVEN'T EVEN HEARD THIS YET;
5. Arctic Monkeys 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'
