Isn't Mr Adkins on 'gardening leave' till the end of the season? Thereby making him unable to sign for another club until that time.

Just commenting on a theory I heard last night :)

Can you be put on gardening leave if you are sacked? No idea how long his contract was but unless he agreed to go on gardening leave, for a bigger payoff than his contract was worth, how can Southampton enforce it? More to the point why would they want to.

Normally the club carries on paying them for a period, but if in that time they take another job they stop getting paid.

I believe Chelsea were releaved that AVB took the Spurs job as he came off their wage bill, which would also explain why Di Matteo has not been rushing to get another job.
It's all a bit odd.

I understand the nature of 'gardening leave', but nevertheless Adkins has been sacked by Southampton who are still able to stop him getting a similar job, elsewhere.

I take it if Adkins resigns from being sacked (gardening leave) he'll forfeit a big wad of cash.

That can't be right as it's too mentals, even for football.

That was the arrangement we had with mark mghee. We were paying him and Wilkins at one point.

With the money SADkins had at his disposal, anything other than promotion with Saints would have been a monumental failure.

Besides, its not all about results.
Our club is built around more than that.
He's a horrible little man, worse than Paul sodding Ince, and to have a wanker like that around the place just isn't worth it.

This.
The nasty S'ton board, did look after him with a massive player budget by L1 and Championship standards.
And he had the fruits of their academy .... absolutely none of his doing.

Tiny little Withdean based Albion beat them to one title, and more modest spending Reading to the next.

He did well, but was certainly no miracle worker.

The alleged gardening leave can be brought to end, but despite a series of revolving manager doors at Premier and Championship clubs, there seems to be no clammer for his services.

Hilarious shambles at Reading. They truly are just trying to immitate the ineptitude of Wolves last year. Doing a good job of it, but they need to keep this Dolan fella until the summer to really match those in Gold.

Press conference to announce it today.

Also, apparently "Poyet declined the opportunity to swap Brighton for Reading, largely because of his belief that, if he were unable to keep the club in the Premier League, he would have a relegation on his CV, although the demotion would not have been his fault. Reading lag seven points off safety with eight matches to play.

The Uruguayan was tempted by the promise of greater clout in the transfer market while he was slighted by Brighton's readiness to grant Reading the permission to talk to him and, potentially, seek a compensation pay-out of around £2.5m for the remaining three-and-a-bit years on his contract."

Notice the lack of quotes from Gus regarding this. Journalists really do just make things up sometimes.

Bull ploppy.

Under Tony everybody seems to be aloud to talk to anybody, to further their career.
Gus, Noone, Bennett, Tony then makes the best deal for HIS club.

Journos can't get their heads around the fact TB works in a respectful way, for the greater good, while not making it about himself, and getting himself all over the TV and print news.

I guess you can't blame the journos when they are used to dealing with clowns like the successive Chairmen from up the road.

Noades - Jordan - Parish

Given Gus' penchant to talk at every opportunity about managing at the top level, I very much doubt he felt in any way offended that TB allowed him to talk to Reading. More likely to have been offended if he hadn't been allowed.

Not sure that TB wasn't calling his bluff either.

Where are all those Reading fans that appeared on NSC last week anyway?

Atkins is a class A twunt. He'll get a right good booing from me if he EVER turns up in the home dugout at Falmer.

At yet we all cheered on an ex-Palace manager - what a bizarre world !
