Like Gus said recently, players (or their agents) are still in the process of playing clubs off against each other to get as much cash out of a club as they possibly can.

I actually think our restraint in this regard is commendable, and in the long term very responsible too.

Don't think it matters who we sign on last nights show. We are losing and what does Gus do brings on a defender to replace a midfielder. When he eventually brings on a forward (to late) he, Agdestien did better in that short time than anyone had done all game. If Gus thinks we are Barcelona and we don't need a centre forward he is deluded. It does not seem as if he learnt anything from last year and plan A is Plan B. I look forward to us now winning the league.:lolol:

And people like you still can't grasp Poyet's philosophy about football :ffsparr:

How many times has Gus said we only play one way so why change it ? Why the need for a plan B. ?
The way we play got us promoted from league 1. It has proved that his system works. As for this season we are still carrying baggage from league one which we are trying to shift. Once we get better players in all this talk from clueless people like you harping on about plan B will be history.

That's why I asked

Errrmm ok, the 2 things I know about you from NSC:

1) You famously left the Leicester game at HT and started a thread about it

2) On a number of occasions you have indicated a signing would be announced at a press conference. Funnily enough neither the signing or press conference occured.

Who should we sign then Kev? You have £2m to spend on transfer fees and <£10k on wages (as per our rumoured wage budget)

Who do we go for?

It really all depends what you aspire to. Firstly I think the £10k wages is a smokescreen, I think there are several members of the squad on more than that, but I digress.
If we can't afford the people we go after, then why go after them in the first place. It's widely rumored that Beckford is on £40k a week, so does anyone in there right mind honestly think he is going to come here, as with Zamora/Heskey/Rhodes or Cole. Now that said if one of them suddenly turns up, then you know this wage cap thing is a load of old bollocks....Back to the £10k a week, well Craig Davies managed 11goals in a weak side in this division, Henderson got 19 was it, Iwelumo is proven at this level. Now I am not saying I want any of those, but you can't deny they all done a job for their clubs and they would all be easily affordable. Maybe Poyet sets his sights a little to high, if he knows he can't afford them, then why chase them in the first place and waste pre season.

Top managers might tinker with formations or personnel but you won't see them hardly ever changing tactics. You expect managers like Fergie to suddenly go long ? If it works for top managers then why can't it work for lower league managers like Gus ?
How many times last year did we get last minute goals because we kept to our principles ?

I don't watch Man U very much but I could swear that I've seen them play some games as a fast counter attacking side and some, against crap teams, as an all out attacking side. Is that not a plan A and a plan B. Gus also alluded to having a plan B in one of the pre-season friendlies talking about using the long ball

I guess what I'm trying to say as politely as possible is that you are talking BOLLOCKS :lolol:

I have never hear Fergie or Clough or anyone for that matter apart from Poyet, tell the opposition exactly what we are going to do and we change for no one. If you want to play like Barcelona that's fine, but I think you might find you need Xavi, Iniesta, Messi etc,,,,not Dicker, Harley and Barnes..Teams know exactly what we are going to do, so they let us have 75% possession in our own half, where they know we can't hurt them and just wait for there chance, which they will always get. It's not exciting, it's woeful, dull and boring.

Does it work we had the worst away record last year other than Coventry and they were relegated so where is your argument on that basis. So I would regard you as pretty clueless as well. We all have an opinion.

Telling the opposition manager we only play one way is completely different them telling them our formation. When we stuffed Chalton 4-0 even Parkinson went on record saying he was surprised we lined up in a diamond formation. Last season i expect we caught the Cardiff manager out by not playing with any wingers.
