Daniel Craig is the new James Bond

James Bond producers are turning over the James Bond franchise to 37-year-old Englishman Daniel Craig. The actor is set to sign a three-picture deal with producer Barbara Broccoli according to Brit newspaper The Sun.

This makes tough guy Craig the sixth man to be Bond following Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan. Craig is already a star in the UK and is set to make a splash stateside with this Spring's Layer Cake. He has also starred in Tomb Raider, Road to Perdition, and The Jacket, among others.

Craig is the apparent choice to play Bond after several years of speculation. Rumored candidates have included Clive Owen, Jude Law, Gerard Butler, and even the younger Orlando Bloom.

Daniel Craig will be an EXCELLENT bond. Anyone who doubts this should go and watch Layer Cake. Much like myself, he has a cool, sophisticated suaveness with an underlying hint of DANGER about him.
