Native British train yobs

Saying that yobbish kids like this are 'underpriveleged' is complete bollocks and an excuse not to deal with them. They get opportunities to make something of themselves, they even get paid to stay on at school!!!

I'm afraid the only answer is to re introduce National Service or better still birch them however socialist's like you no doubt would prefer counciling!
It is weird...you have a government that tells people that "there's no such thing as society", then - stand back in amazement - the offspring born into and brought up in amongst that way of thinking behaves, erm, anti-socially when it grows up...???

That's it, sweeping statement time. Because somone is left wing that makes them liberal.
Well I'm left wing in my politics and I would like to see the re-introduction of National Service.

Agree, how do you know they come from underpriveliged backgrounds anyway? There are plenty of privelegide people who are complete aresholes too.

100% agree, it is a much bigger problem here than elsewhere in Europe, anyway. Who's to blame? I really don't know- suspects are:

(Delete as appicable)
Labour
Muslims
Bellotti
Baker
De Vecchi
McGleish
Leon Knight
London Irish
Mayo
Bush
Bin Laden
Maclaren

Has Oatway officially passed from the scapegoats list now?

i've a slightly different view, if not an entirely advisable one.

if everytime some yob pisses on a train, scratches the window, abuses an old lady, or whatever, they get away with it, there's more chance they'll do it again.

stand up to these litle shits and you risk getting attacked, or more likely they'll back off and think twice next time.

Problem is mate, when they attack these wankers boast about the kick in they gave you.

I've stood up a couple of times and been lucky.

My rules now I will tolerate it, but if anyone threatens, annoys, does not assist my missus or the kids to a seat on public transport.

I go into caveman mode.

I had something like that once on the late train from Victoria to Brighton - only difference it was girls, all chaved up little sluts - about 16/17. I made the mistake of asking them to shut up and "Calm the f*** down".

They went mad at me and afterwards made comments about me really loudly which isn't very nice. I was quite intimidated. Afterall, your not allowed to hit a woman.

On the other hand I some some drunken nutter laying into a tramp in Brighton once. I put my head down and carried on walking. Afterwards I felt terrible. Such a coward. It's easy to say what your gunna do in these situations, but when confronted its alot harder.

Has there ever been a speech more taken out of context than that one?

It was a remark on "people constantly requesting government intervention" : "They are casting their problems at society. And, you know, there's no such thing as society. There are individual men and women and there are families. And no government can do anything except through people, and people must look after themselves first. It is our duty to look after ourselves and then, also, to look after our neighbours."

She was never referring to people ignoring other people for their own selfish aims.

As Goebbels probably didn't say - "if you tell a lie loud enough and often enough.."

Thats the thing 20 years ago they probably would have got a clip round the ear from one (or more) of the commuters...or even the police.

Now we have to fear for our own safety.

I wish it was like 20 years ago

I'm 18 and am incredibly wary of increases in anti-social behaviour (am assuming that anti-social behaviour has increased in say the last 20 years) occuring at the moment. If these kids are like this now, at say 13/14, what the hell are they going to be like in their 30s? What are their kids going to be like? Scary thought!

Willow gives good advice, have the number for BTP on your mobile phone. They are keen to stamp out behaviour that is offensive to both passengers and railway employees, they will more than likely arrange a welcoming committee for the offenders.

Had an incident like that once when a group of mates and I were going from Worthing to Brighton one saturday evening some drunk twats about 4 off them thought it was funny a shout in peoples faces including a couple with two little kids said something to one of my mates who told them to clear off - next thing they started on him for about 7 of us, who i don't think they realised were with my mate to pile into them - kicked them out the train at Hove after some minor fisticuffs one of the blokes smacked his head on the platform as he was ejected from the train to a round of applause from others on the train only to then be confronted by british transport police at brighton as they had recieved a complaint and if it was not for the other passengers backing us up would probably have spent the night in the cells.

Just about sums up the old bill at times.
