My Conclusions From Today's Game

Just back from the game. These are my conclusions, in no particular order.

1. Gavin Hoyte is not good enough.

2. I still get the horrors every time El-Abd gets the ball, but I have to admire his bravery.

3. Inigo can hit a ball! Twice today he struck shots that would have shattered the net.

4. Hartlepool is the coldest place on Earth.

5. Ashley Barnes can't hold the ball up well enough.

6. Holroyd offers little.

7. Likewise Hendrie, but I think he will turn out to be a good player at this level.

8. I wish Carole could cross, he would be a really good player if he could.

9. Arismendi looks good on the ball but still very rusty - was partly at fault for the second goal.

10. Dicker is QUALITY. How long left on his contract? We need to extend it NOW.

11. We are a much worse team without Crofts and Painter.

12. We are passing the ball much better than I can remember for ages but we still need to work on end product. Too many times today we played things short and didn't get a cross into the box.

I realise that many of these points have been made before, but I felt the need to reinforce some of them.

I wasn't at the game but everyone is entitled to make a mistake. Elphick has been fantastic recently so it is ridiculous to say get rid over one mistake, however bad it was.

We outplayed them in the first half, but couldn't create much to show for it. They did not play well enough to score twice in my opinion, but fair play to them in taking their chances.

Every man played terribly. Hoyte, Elphick and Dicker particularly bad.

It looked like contracts were sorted this weekend and no one has anything to play for

everything was at half pace, proper going through the motion nothingness.

Scott Flinders was a top bloke for going out his way to applaud the Brighton fans at the end

I'll be honest and say that a lot of my admiration for Dicker originates from previous games. However, I wouldn't describe his performance today as terrible. He was very calm in possession I thought and was quite composed. Opinions, hey!
