But both you and Murray (and more particularly Mrs. Murray) are missing the point here. He is a family man who chooses to (and is lucky enough to) earn his living playing football. It's a career that only lasts a few years, but for those years moving around goes with the job.
Somebody really should tell Mrs. Murray the facts of life - she landed herself a professional footballer, and probably thought it was quite a catch - fit, and higher than avarage earnings. If she wants that, then the price she has to pay is to move with him and support him; if she really thinks she can have all that, but still go on living two streets away from her mum, she needs a reality check.
We had the same problem a few years back with a certain Mrs. Mickey Thomas - and look what happened to them; that should serve as a warning to the Murrays in cloud-cuckoo land.
IMHO, we should loan him out - but to someone like Torquay or Exeter, or someone in the French secon division - and hold him to his contract. That way, the silly woman will realise that Brighton's not the end of the world, and he won't disrupt our dressing room. Hopefully, after a few months even further away from 'oop north' the silly pair will come to their senses and Murray will knuckle down and start to repay the investment we have made in him.

Add to this the privileged and opportunistic position a pro footballer has if ambitious. Right now he has the chance to impress - so do it as well as he can and get the pick of clubs! He should bust a gut to head for a northern club that's going places or already up there - get the most dosh from an expensive transfer and wages negotiation, and get his career flying as high as he can!

Look at Ronaldo - he wanted away from MU but had the sense to play well and complete his side of the bargain with Ferguson - and what's his cut of the 90 million quid transfer??

Exactly. And agree with cjd too. Someone needs to tell Mrs. Murray the facts of life.
After all, on a footballer's wages, visiting 'oop north' isn't exactly un-affordable or terribly difficult. Ok, I know that at our level, a footballer's wages are nothing like Ronaldo's, but I wouls still wager the largest amount of money I could raise that GM's weekly wage packet id bigger than my monthly one!
GM needs to sort himself and Mrs. M out - otherwise this hankering for being 'oop north' will bugger up his career, and once he's no longer 'a bit of a catch' she'll probably ditch him anyway. Time for GM to wise up and put his foot down, methinks..................
