Refused treatment to anyone who did not first convert to catholocism, refused treatment to any woman who wanted to terminate a child they were carrying forcing thousands of poor and illiterate women in India to have children they did not want, refused to sanction any kind of contraception despite knowing it would condemn women in India to death from aids and other std's.

No,no. This is quite legitimate. A lot of reports by English workers in her orphanages are rather damning. And a lot of people are questioning how much she actually helped.

I just think its too easy to criticise people who do the sort of work few of us would ever go any where near. Believe me I've had a little experience of working with 'homeless' men. Its tough work and it's easy enough to do it badly.

With the help of Indian officials she converted an abandoned Hindu temple into the Kalighat Home for the Dying, a free hospice for the poor. She renamed it Kalighat, the Home of the Pure Heart (Nirmal Hriday). Those brought to the home received medical attention and were afforded the opportunity to die with dignity, according to the rituals of their faith; Muslims were read the Quran, Hindus received water from the Ganges, and Catholics received the Last Rites.
