Luton - Standing v Sitting

Liz and Sarah really only have themselves to blame. They must have known people would stand but they had chosen seats at the far right of the goal which would mean they couldn't see anything if people were standing. Why on earth didn't they sit more centrally and at the front so as not to have a problem ???

A guy a couple of rows in front of me had the right idea, he'd bought a young girl and boy with him, probably about 7 or 8 years old, they were right in the middle behind the goal, stood on the seats so they could see everything and chanting their heads off and singing going down with appropriate gestures at the Luton, looked like they had a whale of a time

Am I right in thinking you're on about the two, one in a yellow and one in a home shirt and an inflatable blue hand pointy thingy, pleasure to see actually, too young ones like that singing and following the Albion.

Yep that's them, you're right it was a pleasure to see. It looked like they were really enjoying themselves so hopefully they will want to come back but top marks as well to the guy who brought them and is obviously bringing them both up so well.

When I took my seat in the front row Sarah and Liz were already positioned a few rows behind, so the front row had been an option, seats were still free.

However, it gave me a clear view of Paul Samrah's discussion with the stewards. When it was clear that everyone was standing, Paul sensibly moved his kids to the front row of the empty seats to the right, apparently with the steward's approval. When it seemed like commonsense had broken out, in walked bonehead-earpiece-jobsworth steward who insisted he move them and offered them an escort to the other side of the stand. There followed a trail of increasingly senior stewards to review the situation and when asked why the kids couldn't sit there, one replied 'my children don't get special treatment when I go away, why should yours?'.

If anyone has a recording of Paul's rant about the stewards on Harty's phone-in, it should be sent to Luton Town FC for their comments. It's not as if he's your average ignorant yob, he's the Football League's Fan of the Year.

I am six feet three (which isn't exactly that tall) and had to move to the front row as I couldn't physically sit down.

I am thinking of writing to the FA to complain about the lack of leg room at Kenilworth Road.

I wondered why Paul Samrah appeared near us during the game.

To be honest is was neigh on impossible to sit in those seats as the leg room was terrible.

I thought it was great, a good game, great atmosphere (our end anyway) A real football ground and not once did I get told to sit down

I got told to sit down, Or rather shouted at to sit down by that Liz Costa woman. whats the matter with the bloody woman? I thought it quite an achievement in my drunken state actually managing to find a seat without falling over or dropping my meat pie, and just when i'm congratulating myself I get her yelling at me before my brain had even contemplated the sitting part of the opperation.

It was a good day out though, Well the bits I can remember anyway! :drink:

Indeed, but it would be nice to have the option of being able to sit in your seat if the mood takes you!

Took the whole family today. 3 kids U10, pregnant wife and mum over 70. They knew that our away support always stands if we can so we planned for it.

Found ideal spot about 5 rows back left of goal 'cos could tell the few in front of us weren't going to stand. We could sit or stand at our leisure (standing behind us) to get over leg room problem. In fact Paul Samrah and his tribe came and sat at the front of us.

I sympathise with those unable to see ( my mum often struggles at away games as she's tiny ) but it's a FOOTBALL match, not an evening at the Opera ! A bit of shuffling usually gets around any problems.

Exactly  The more I think about it the more I wonder if they were moving through the row to a different spot, tripped and fell into their seats and couldn't get up again. Only the adrenalin of an Albion goal got them back out!
