Neither here nor there
Clubs like Eastbourne and Lewes are not going to have huge away followings. These are clubs that have shot up the non-league pyramid and until recently only expected to compete against local clubs. In Eastbourne Borough's case, they were the third-biggest team in Eastbourne not so long ago!

The fan bases will build (Boro now get bigger average gates than Crawley) but it shouldn't really surprise anyone to see tiny away attendances, especially at places as far away as Wrexham and also when we're all skint.

Lewes fans who witnessed the cup exit at the hands of Leiston have another excuse not to spend their money on a fruitless trip to north Wales.

True

Worthing took loads more than 11 away to Bury Town in Suffolk for the FA Cup 3rd qualy.

A REAL club with dedicated fans who've been their through the good and the bad (which at the moment, we're getting a mix of).

The match was being beamed back live to the Pan on the big screens (40") in the clubhouse.

High up on the South Downs.
Lewes only managed to get a crowd of 363 along to the Dripping Pan for the FA Cup replay against Leiston.

And over 100 of them were away supporters from Suffolk.

And how many of the Leiston fans were radioactive ?

I watched Lewes play Epsom and Ewell on the saturday when the Albion 10 years ago were not playing in the second round of the FA Cup. The crowd just reached 100.

All part of the masterplan.

Board of property developers.

They've already applied direct to the Rymans League.

Planning on by-passing Conference South completely.

Dripping Pan fifty metres from the station for a dormitory dweller.

Wonder how many affordable shabby flats they'll have to concede to the council.

Seeing as how its LDC, probably none.

Cuuunts.
cuunts is the right word if they're planning on building them at the moment.

I think you're missing the point, Reverend Cardinal. Lewes won promotion and the directors sacked the manager and got rid of almost all the players. They have appointed a manager who can't do the job, who has recruited players who haven't got the ability to compete at this level and the promised investment in an upgrading of the ground is nowhere to be seen.

The fans feel that they and their club have been shafted by the Board. Most of the fans are now not showing up to matches.

This thread is simply monitoring - and commenting on - what is a disastrous situation for supporters that deserve better.

They are waiting for Keehan to be sacked and the Board to accept an offer that will allow some investment to be made in turning things round.

But the Board has refused to talk to the people who made the approach.

Keehan: I am not expecting the sack (From The Argus)

Dean Wilkins is sitting in the Snow Drop just waiting for the call!!!

He'd have a job...it's shut down so i hear !!!

So let's put this into perspective. Lewes is a town that's not traditionally known for it's football. It's full of middle class, ale drinking wierdo liberals who have more disposable income than they know what to do with.

I do believe Lewes has a population of around 10,000 people.

Now Brighton has a reputation for having had a reasonable football team in the past.....the only league club in Sussex for many a year (and still are if you don't include the conference)

Now Brighton has a population of around 250,000

So that's 25 times more than Lewes. In reletive terms, Brighton should've taken 275 supporters to Wrexham.

Don't think that would've happened do you ?

s that anthony barness , ex chelsea ?

Don't know about Chelsea but he played for Charlton for a while
