We have a collection of fine keepers as it is, we don't need that flapping fool as well.

Oh The Daily Star :lolol: :lolol:

Players agents do this a lot, throw Leeds' name in the mix in the hope of getting the player a better deal wherever they are actually going.

We've been linked to just about everyone who has moved in the Championship this season.

Like his Old Trafford wing colleague Lee Sharpe, Andrei Kanchelskis’ career peaked at Manchester United and has never been the same since. Signed from Shaktar Donetsk for a bargain £650,000 the Ukrainian-born star thrilled crowds with his flying wingplay although he never seemed to grasp the need to integrate into a team pattern.

For a time all went well; he was a key element of Alex Ferguson’s first double side in 1994. Then he found out- like others- that falling out with the Scot isn’t a good idea. He got some practice in by leading a player’s revolt in the Russian squad for the 1994 World Cup, which saw him excluded from that competition. Restored to the squad for Euro 96 he again became involved in controversy- perhaps not the best move for a Ukrainian who had opted for the Russian side after the break up of the Soviet Union.

Away from international soccer Ferguson transferred his troublesome winger to Everton in 1995 and for a period his form at Goodison was more than useful; scoring both goals in a Merseyside Derby win always helps win over the fans. However, in early 1997 he was on the move again to Serie club Fiorentina for £8m and around this time persistent rumours began that he needed the money from large signing on fees to pay off debts.

The Serie A move was definitely unsuccessful and in 1999 Kanchelskis returned to British football at Glasgow Rangers. Though there were flashes of brilliance he developed a reputation for lack of commitment and was voted Scotland’s worst value import by fans (he cost £5m). When the dour Dutchman Dick Advocaat arrived he allowed the player to join his old boss Joe Royle at Manchester City but his stay only lasted 11 games.

Rangers were still unimpressed but Southampton were prepared to give him a shot in August 2002 but only two sub apperances resulted. Next up he signed a four month contract with A-Hilal of Saudi Arabia but fell out with them. He trained with Brighton in August 2003 but then returned to Russia and Dinamo Moscow from where he was sacked for indiscipline involving allegations of running a dwarf brothel. Neighbours FC Saturn stepped in and now 35, he’s still on the books at the modest club from an area south-east of Moscow.

hold on

didn't a certain yorkshire club buy one of our average keepers for an inflated price to keep salaries being paid in the 90's.

could lightning strike twice?
