We were undone by missing a penalty and a couple of other clear cut chances, not by poor refereeing. If we'd put those chances away then no-one would care about the soft penalty decision.

And if they hadn't been given a soft penalty or kept a man on the pitch when he should have been sent off no-one would care about the missed chances...

Thought Mason was one of the better Refs we've had this season, got most decisions right, except for their Pen when Varney conned him with that dive. Was pleased to see him not taking too much crap from Diouf who was just coming nicely to boiling point (courtesy of El Abd) when Warnock took him off. Might have been interesting if Diouf had stayed on another 5 mins.

Brown was very lucky to stay on. His cynical attitude was evident from the start with his 'shot by a sniper' fall over and roll around when fouled by Buckley in the first minute (ok it was def a foul and probably deserved the yellow) but far too theatrical and set the tone for much of his and Leeds reactions to challenges.

I watched this on the box tonight. 3 things come to light , once again we didnt take our chances, yes their penalty wouldnt be given on a different day, but bruno has no need to put his hands on the guy. However at any other moment in the match and anywhere but right in front of the leeds fans, the ref would issue a yellow card for browns challenge on buckley. He made no effort to win the ball and pulled him over with both hands on the edge of the area.....its a no brainer...pure and simple ref has bottled it or made a massive error. 2-1, down to ten men different game......then brown scores

Two massive game changing errors by the ref tonight. Defo not a Leeds pen and defo a red for Brown. No question. Also how the ref didn't book Diouf for dissent and allowed two long chats with him and his captain I don't know.

That said, Orlandi's miss and CMS penalty save cost us dear. Didn't think the ref was bad overall but those two decisions were just plain wrong.

Not game changing errors, in the second half their right back encroached at least 30 yards for a throw in twice. Mason was side tracked by the Diouff/El Abd argument and by a substitution. Surely he must have remembered where the ball left the play, if not him the Lino should.

every time , its the ref or the lino, probably new footy fans

Pathetic pretentious statement.

I've followed this club home and away for 25 years and very rarely blame the ref or lino but tonight we were undone by an inept official.

We have been very poor for the last few games but tonight we lost 2 points thanks to a very poor petformance from a distinctly average referee.

We deserved cricism on Saturday when we were terrible but today we were excellent. Gus and the team have earnt a lot of credit today and Mason cost us the win.

That was comical! One of the throws should have been near the half way line but he took it almost level with our penalty area.

The thing with the likes of Brown, Diouf and Warnock is that they are constantly putting pressure on the officials and unfortunately Mason buckled and got the two biggest decisions in the game hopelessly wrong.

I thought it seemed like he felt as a "premier league" ref he didn't need to officiate properly in term of bookings and so on - thought he ref'd it like a friendly as though it were beneath him to do it properly...

We sit virtually own the halfway line in the east stand and the ball went out in their half, yet he took the throw in as you say near our penalty box.

Don't think Orlandi did too much wrong, hit it down and it just bounced over crossbar. You could see how f***ed off he was after

We were excellent but the fact is you can't blame the officials. If CMS had put away the second penalty we win the game but he didn't. All three were very soft. They showed close ups of the first 2 in the WSU concourse at half time and there was minimal contact for ours while theirs was softer than a public schoolgirl with a bottle of Fairy. Our second would have been given by 50% of refs max.

Given however that we led the penalty count 2-1 there is no way we should have drawn and no way you can blame the ref.

Why didn't Barnes take them? Would have given him something to do.

That said I thouroughly enjoyed tonight. We played well. We should have won. I was entertained and the atmosphere was way better. This and the fact we started with 2 wingers are quite closely linked.....

Think Arsenal in the henry/pires era used to have a rule about the same player never taking two penalties in the same game, even if they scored the first. Guess cms was too scared to look an idiot if kenny stood still and caught the ball if he smashed it down the middle again?
