Lack of quality signings

Perhaps we should go after Beckham as I'm sure he's prefer to be here than LA or West Ham. Makes me wonder at times who people think this club is, it's not as though we're Manchester City or Chelsea. Apart from Huddersfield and Saints who else has made 'big' signings ?

Pork pie land.
....
Could I add that I am GLAD we are not competing with Huddersfield and Southampton to buy our way to promotion. After losing our home and flirting with disaster in the all-too-recent past and with an eye on the "big" clubs who are currently sailing so close to the wind I just want a sustainable club that I can continue to support into my dotage. I supported us in the old 4th division right up to the 1st and back down again. I'd love to see the Albion in the ascendency again but most of all I just love to see the Albion..................

Unfortunately, we are already committed to far greater spending than either of the two you mention. However, it is in the form of a £93million stadium.

With that massive investment, I feel that conservative expenditure on the Team is something that the Club have little choice about, as it would be wasted with anything less than Championship football, and I would imagine, after the initial interest, fans would not turn-out in sufficient numbers to see lower league football being played.

I think we will have to wait until the premier clubs set their 25 man squads before we will know who is likely to be in the market.
I mean lets face it Newcastle could lose on of their wingers playing against MU and lua-lua might come into play at his home club and the same goes for the forward we are supposed to be paying big money for .....but we do have the basis of a very good squad and with some Gus tinkering and additions we may go far

Ankergren IMO is far better than Brez.

Why? Both competent goal keepers who equally make the occassional massive mistake. Brez controls his box better. Ankergren is probably a better shot stopper. Other than that I don't think there is much between them...

Marcos Painter - QUALITY
Inigo Calderon - QUALITY
Radostin Kishishev - QUALITY
Matt Sparrow - QUALITY
Gordon Greer - QUALITY
Casper Ankergren - QUALITY
Ashley Barnes - QUALITY

Were you expecting Lionel Messi?

Didn't say there was no quality and agree with you,but there is a difference between who we have signed and real quality, by which I mean striker who won't look out of his depth when Murray gets another suspension etc.... We haven't exactly pushed the boat out..........YET !!!!

We've picked up a regular from a Championship team (Sparrow) and the captain of the playoff finalists last year (Greer). What "big names" were you expecting?

Think you've answered your own question . Not doubting their class, just not a lot better than we had already ( Crofts and any central defender )

No position stands out as lacking competition except possibly up front, especially now that we have Ankergren and Brez competing in goal. It is clear that Poyet never really had faith in Poke.

Lua Lua would be a great addition and apart from that, all we need is one striker capable of competing with Barnes and Murray, which Holroyd and Hart clearly aren't. He doesn't need to be a £1m player though.
