Yep, waiting for Donny too.

I might not even take my seat until about 10mins before kick off - I want to walk out and see it in all its 1st day glory. It'll be hard to resist a peek at it though...

My long, last, lingering look at the Goldstone as I left the West Stand will, after more than 14 years, merge into my first glimpse of the Amex as I climb the steps into the new West Stand.

Tears guaranteed.

I guess Donny will decide how many tickets they want soon, so we will know if we have an extra 1000 South Stand tix to sell.

Donny will take my cherry. Thought about the Spurs game but i think seeing the stadium jam packed for that first game will be a very special occasion. Couldn't give as toss about SSC. Will take my young lad up to Burgess Hill on Sunday though for his first ever Albion game.

I think that going to one of the ramp-up games would be like chasing a gorgeous woman for year after year only to get rejected. Finally, you wear her down, have a date and a promise that she'll come round to yours on Saturday night wearing her special underwear... and then you spend Friday night banging some doxy at the back of the bus station.

I like that analogy, but I'll have to consult the Urban Dictionary: doxy

I think I would have agreed with you had I not attended the first two games at Withdean. I found the atmosphere and occasion of the Forest opener as memorable as the 6-0 thrashing of Mansfield Town, so I would say "get to the Tottenham game if you can."

In theory I totally agree. However I have decided to do both ramp ups because I don't want any cock ups on the big day.

I want to know where the car parks are. I want to know where the entrance is, where the toilets and bar are and fully enjoy the Doncaster day to the full.

Imagine if you f*** up on the day and it spoils it. I want to be used to my seat come that first game so I can just sit back and enjoy.

Donny first for me also. I might do Gillingham the following Tuesday though. It is going to be quite funny reading through the results on that Wednesday morning, and perusing the attendances. They're going to read something like this:

I honestly don't think going to the ramp up events will make the donny game less special and I don't see how queuing for hours for a train then queuing for hours in the club shop will be a special experience at the donny game.

Personally I'd rather bang a couple of lesser birds as a build up for giving the real one a damn good time. SSCF is my fumble, Spurs is a quickie and then Doncaster is the real thing. And that's the way it should be in sex and football.

Its the "everything is new and being seen and experienced for the 1st time" that says wait for donny for me, the spurs game will be good up to a point for sure, in the same way as the forest friendly game at the withdean was good and better than most friendlies, but it still wasnt the same as the 1st home game against Mansfield and it wasnt just because we won 6-0, it was the atmosphere because it had that tension, that will be hard to create at the spurs game. Friendlies are always more pedestrian and have a holidaymaker feel to it than a proper league game, whatever the event.

I dont care i dont know where im gonna be drinking, what the walk is like from the station, where the stairs are, whats the bar/beer like etc, ill get there early enough on the day to fathom that out and its all part of the wow factor I want to keep for the donny.

I was a "save it for Donny" man but as the finishing touches have been put to the Amex, I've found the photos on here more and more tempting. As such I'm almost certainly going to the Spurs game and might give the SSC a go too.

I really can't see attending either/both detracting from the Donny day though. The ramp-up games will be about the excitement of seeing the bright and sparkly stadium, but the Donny game is where it all begins: our first proper game in our proper stadium.

The whole day will be amazing...

- It will be sunny.
- Town before the game will be full of Albion fans, smiling, chattering, full of little-kid excitement.
- Atmosphere will build as people make their way to the stadium, probably getting there far earlier than they would normally.
- Pre-match emotions will build - there will be warm hand-shakes, hugs, tears and thoughts to those who didn't make it.
- Then, around 2:55, the blue and white stripes will emerge into the dazzling sunlight to a full-on version of Sussex by the Sea. The crowd will go mental.
- We will stuff Donny, we really will. It's in the script.
- Meander back to town, cheeks aching from the non-stop smiles, and a few more beers as people reflect on the day, and look forward to the season ahead.

I can't wait, I really can't.

Goning to be quality

The town from 10am is going to be blue and white everywhere , all pubs round the station full to capacity and spilling onto the road. Songs everywhere

Nah, bollocks to that. The SSC game is a tenner or a fiver for kids/OAPs so I'm using it to take family I won't be able to bring/who won't be able to afford the Spurs and league games.

The people who've been round every corner of the stadium (most of whom did f*** all to save the club during the late 1990s) probably won't find much novelty to actually watching a game there, but I want to get in there for a game as soon as

I've done 60 grounds now, and only been late to kick off once. I tend to get there very early! I'm a cautious sort of a chap.

Just another point on this issue. Lots on here have had tours of the ground. I kind of see the SSC and Spurs as a bit like this. I don't give a shit about the game itself but will happily spend as much time in that stadium as I can.

Me too. But not sure about whether I want to be there early to see the stadium filling up and feel the excitement building - or wait till it is full for the total experience.
