OK I admit I know very little about him. Assuming that we are trying to sign him....

So are we going down the CMS route and potentially signing a player who has excelled in League 1 but has no pedigree at Championship level or is he a class above already?

Basically would you be thrilled, disappointed ot not bothered if we signed him?

I'm the same 5mil seems a lot for a player not tried and tested @ this level! I'd be excited as if Gus thinks he's worth 5mil he cant be half bad :)

I personally would be thrilled as the two might complement each other and with Rhodes at 22, potential to grow, i don't think he's a class above but there is less risk with a younger player.

I don't know him that well. From what I've read he sounds like a great player, but is he what we need upfront? Is he the striker we need, dominant force in the air? Can hold the ball up well? Like I said, I don't know him too well so I don't know the type of player he is.

But, if he isn't then it would be a risk. It would be a lot of money on a great L1 Striker but without Championship experience...kind of learnt our lesson on that, although I truly believe CMS will do great this year.

A big gamble but looks like a good one. I would be thrilled we need upcoming players as much as we need experience. Strikers are hard to get but when the team around them is good enough and they score lots their value goes through the roof. Strikers are a gamble and Rhodes looks ace on paper and different to what we got.

He is that player, my cousin supports Huddersfield, although not impressed with our interest, he said he is a target man in a way 6'2" and strong.

I haven't seen enough of him to judge, but given the amount of interest he has garnered in the prem and that he's 22 then it seems like a gamble worth taking.

I'm sure he wouldn't be a dud, but whether or not he is a good signing would depend on how much we paid for him surely? Spunking a kings random on a third division player might not be a good idea if it means forgoing quality elsewhere on the pitch...

I voted not sure, mainly because of the £5m pice tag, however having thought about it i guess Arsenal and Southampton set the bar when they agreed a £12m fee for Oxlade-Chamberlaine. So i guess that is just what you have to pay if you want that sot of potential, after all we paid £2.5m plus, for a much older striker with a similar record.

I don't think that we will have a chance of signing him. From what I have read, he wants to stay oop norf. But if we did pull it off, I'm sure he will get goals in this league too.

Probably working!
Brighton was not an option yesterday in sky-bets Jordan Rhodes transfer window signing bet, only some prem teams were quoted, the likes of reading, qpr, norwich. Today the bet has disappeared completely which is strange!

I think this is different.
Edit, to elaborate. Yes, the CMS signing was out of the blue, as was perhaps all our signings so far this season. But Rhodes is THE hottest property in the lower leagues.
As exciting as all this is lets be a bit realistic. Has the bar raised in terms of who we can attract? Of course. Can we sign absolutely anyone? Of course not.

That's very true but I'm basing the suggestion of it being nonsense based on we just don't need a player like Rhodes. And neither do I think we would consider 5m for one player.

Huddersfield aren't Peterborough either, they don't need the cash as much.
