Thought I'd raise this one, John Lennon has been described as 'the greatest singer songwriter and the most influential political artist of our time.' And i personally think that Imagine is one of the greatest songs every written. Imagine is a classic even if u dont like John Lennon you have to like that song, the words are just everything we need in a world like today!

Indeed, on its generally number 1 on many internet lists of the greatest songs ever written, and very rarely outside the top 5.

So, by now you get the idea, I like the song. I just wanted to raise it and ask your opinions on it, as one NSCer I was talking to seemed to hate it with a vengence, and I wondered if anyone on here either a) aggreed or b) disagreed with me.

Is it a good song, or isnt it - simple as that.

Here's a reminder...

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

bit communist innit?

quite like the song though, The Beatles were brilliant and enjoyed some of the solo stuff all of them did. ( though I would be hard pushed to name a Ringo Starr solo song but I enjoyed 'Thomas the Tank Engine' A LOT!)

Shit idea.

No World Cup, Euros, Olympics, other sporting events, holidays abroad, opportunities to take the piss out of the Scots/Germans/Welsh/French etc, different cultures (as these are based on national identities) and so on

Surely international peace would be a better thing?

In my opinion.

I'm glad someone feels the same way as I do.

The greatest song ever is BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY even after 30 years and reapeated listens it still entertains and blows you away it is simply an unequalled masterpiece and I don't think any song has before or after its release come close.

I cannot stand "Imagine". I can appreciate a lot of the Beatles work, including Lennon's stuff, but Imagine is simply awful. I can't understand how people even like it, let alone vote it the greatest song of all time.

Bohemian Rhapsody is a wanker's song, sung by wankers. If you want overblown tosh, then that is it. Masterpiece, my arse. Queen were revolting, only good for making money - not much else.

'Imagine': Good song, but over-rated as the the greatest song ever. Not bad sentiments, but you did get the feeling he needed to get out of bed a bit more.

It's actually a Beatles song on Sgt Pepper sung by Paul McCartney.

Ringo did "With a Little Help from my friends".

Solo Ringo classics include:

"The No-No Song" and "You're Sixteen".

Yours pedantically, etc., etc.

;)
