What has amazed me that people are surprised. For some reason in the back of my head i thought everyone knew he was a nonce, i seem to remember rumours and allegations coming out about 5 years ago but i can't find anything on it. This is a bit like realising that the sun comes up every morning.

From what I've heard from the radio the police are saying the various statements from the alleged victims (who, it has to be presumed, didn't all get together to get their stories straight beforehand) paint a pretty consistent pattern of behaviour over 40 years or so.

Really? What I've seen is a police commander say they are investigating 120 complaints. Do you think he is talking shite too?

I have figured why i thought everyone new...the above picture was taken at Haut de la Garenne however in 2008 Savile protested that he was never there, had never been to this childrens home (even tho he had been to many others)

It's not hearsay, because those making the allegations are the alleged victims (they're not saying they heard he committed crimes against others). Otherwise, I too find the timing frustrating.

Some of them did come forward at the time, but no one believed them. One girl was even punished by her school for making up stories about such a philanthropist megastar. She was told the school would get no more money from Savile's endeavours if she said such malicious things about him. One girl committed suicide after writing about it all in her diary. Others did go to the police, but nothing was done in it. Even Esther Rantzen, founder of Childline did nothing when she heard the rumours. The only reason it is all coming out now is that Savile had so much power at the BBC that he was untouchable. Only now he is dead do these alleged victims feel it is safe to admit what happened to them and an investigation would be the right thing to do to find the truth.

Sorry to say this, i believe that JS is guilty. However do you think it wise to use the police as the basis of your arguement? I seem to remember that only a few weeks ago the police could not be trusted with the truth, Hillsborough ring any bells.

I would also add the FS story, on the internet yesterday it mentioned the women who made the claim was now 54 and that they had found the clunk click footage of 1974 of her and FS. Well I know my maths is not to good, but i make that she was 16 at the time and not 14.

I know JS can not be brought to account over this, however I do not think all these TV/Radio people should get away with claims that they had known about it. It makes them just as guilty, there should be a full investigation and lets get to the bottom of who knew and who else was involved in the abuse. I have a feeling there will be a few celebrities sitting at home shitting themeselves about this. FS does look like he is ready to collaspe with the shock. He needs to come out and say what went on.

The police did investigate some allegations in 2007 and found there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute.

The words on BBC news were clear that this is a fact. If what was said is true it is very sad that people allowed this to go on. Those who are alive and linked to this should be investigated and if evidence exists brought to justice.
