I used to sell live eels, they were a bugger to catch and not much fun to wrap either.

If you read that out of context it's a bit odd.

It wasn't the best of sentences!

You don't seem to be cockneyed. Surely you would have used some rhyming slang for the word 'odd' if the eel had worked its magic.

My grandad used to make jellied eels. I can remember him getting them out of the bucket, live and thrashing, then he'd chop their head off but the body would still be going apeshit for AGES.

Bleeeurgh.

Never eaten jellied eels but did have a smoked one in Belgium a few years ago, I have to report that it wasn't that bad.

I've just had jellied eels on watercress with buttered brown bread door stops and a huge mug of tea for my lunch. It was damn tasty, but I'm worried that I may be becoming a cockney.

Strike a light the dogs ringing, alf a mo'.

And what's wrong with being a cockney?

I was born in Bow.

Jellied eels though are the food of the devil.
They're disgusting. My dad loved them and so did my grandad so it must be an age thing.

Only time I tried them was when they were free on the bar for a Chas and Dave gig I went to. Since then I've not made a habit of either jellied eels or Chas and Dave!
