This!

Odd that we think fans of top 6 teams are entitled, when they dismiss #teamslikeBrighton and then we come up with the same shit.
So we are not allowed to think that we have a chance of beating a team that has conceded 56 goals in 31 games ?

We might as well give up then ?

We certainly shouldn't take it for granted, and Potter won't, but to say we definitely won't beat them is madness. One thing that the restart in Germany showed was that behind closed doors it's much more about who has the better players and squad, rather than home advantage. Their squad is still pretty much Championship level and quite thin. They have our former reserve keeper as their starting keeper. They had to play 120 minutes last night and still lost, will have a suspension and their talisman Puki looks absolutely knackered.

We'll have to work hard and play well, we cannot just turn up and we absolutely should not arrogantly lord it over them, but it's much more of a winnable game than our next three home games.

Glass half empty, man! In 1981, we needed to win our last four games to stay up. And we did.

40 years ago, 3 years ago. Neither will define the reality of what happens, but one has more relevance than the other.

Here is the latest "form" , it really highlights how much other results have gone our way for the last three rounds, not just the two since lockdown. 2 points picked up from 45 available to the 5 below us, compared to our 5 from 9 available

I don’t think anyone is saying we are entitled to beat a #teamlikeNorwich, I think the feeling is we feel we could be beating a team that has lost 20 of their 31 games in our current form and confidence compared to theirs - nothing to do with the statures of the 2 clubs.

I don’t think that is the same as say a West Ham fan (or captain) regardless of how well they or we are playing state they should be beating #teamslikeBrighton.

Let's see where we are after the completion of the next round of results (Villa having lost their game in this round). If no one picks up a point, it will mean that two out of Bournemouth, Villa and West Ham have to win two and draw one to put us in the zone (notwithstanding Watford who are a point better off than those three). Bournemouth have got Man Utd, Leicester and Man City as three out of their last 6. Chuck in Spurs, Soton and Everton and it would appear they are doomed. Villa have got to play Man City and Liverpool out of the top 6 and then include Arsenal, Palace and Everton. I don't see them winning any of them.

In view of the above, it suggests one more win will seal it for us although we may already got enough points in the bag.

Pop over to Redcafe's match day thread about their visit to The Amex on Tuesday. It might just be starting to dawn on the top 6 that we are not a bad side.

Interesting the difference between the comments on there and the rubbish from Arsenal . A general feeling that Man Utd should win,(true) but tempered with the understanding that they haven't got a great record against Brighton away from Old Trafford, and that its likley to be the hardest match they have for a few weeks. Some nice comments about Brighton not being scared to go out and play against top 6 teams. Compare that to the Arsenal delusional fans that simply just can not accept our record against them, and just can not fathom how any team outside top 6 dares to play and beat them.

Have to agree, although we all tease the Utd fan base for not being local (which is true really, their support is very global at this point) however there’s genuine class to their supporter base that’s not present with Arsenal.

Despite all the stick he’s had from the media, the fans genuinely support Soljkskar. They always get behind their players. They even got behind Moyes!

Contrast that to the pathetically juvenile and entitled Arsenal fan base (just preview any random 5 min clip on Arse fan TV as evidence “blud”).

Even the way the Arsenal fans treated one of their greatest ever managers was a disgrace. Wenger was hounded out for ‘only’ getting top 4 every season. You’d think that’d be a wake up call but nope, utterly deluded.

Possibly the worse fans in the PL. Watch for #artetaout to start trending if they don’t get a couple of results.

A very impressive 1st half at Leicester play that way against United we'll have a chance. The big difference from the restart is the lads have some confidence back which was badly lacking before lockdown. Other teams below us seem to have no confidence at moment and with games running out the pressure is mounting. Likewise, had we lost both I would of been in panic mode right now!!

Of late..

Certainly last season, it felt we could never pull away from the relegation zone. All teams kept picking up points.

Obviously we’ve deserved it with a couple of great results, but we have to be honest. Everyone else at the bottom have made it easy for us.

Pretty much every single result has gone our way since the break.

Before seeing your thread, I was having exactly this conversation earlier with a Liverpool mate (to congrat him on their success). Completely agree, we’ve somehow pulled away from the tray of treacle

We've simply achieved a couple of the results we've been threatening all season - helped by some players who've come on leaps and bounds under Potter starting to look like integral members of the squad. Chalk and cheese to last year where it was clear that there were divisions and a loss of belief in the manager's methods. Just goes to show that shallow points comparisons used to weigh up Hughton and Potter's merits missed the mark completely. The club has made good progress in the past year. Even if we go down - now looking a lot less likely - that will remain true.

Yep, CH played with fear and we were hanging on in most games, this season we have been undone by shit finishing but we have gone toe to toe with almost everybody and don’t shake like shitting dog against the big boys. Massive improvement imo

Same boat for me. So many on here seemed to have written us off with no hope of getting anything from the first 2 games back and fully expecting us to have dropped into the bottom 3. Grounds for optimism now though we arent quite there yet.

We might as well give up then ?

The exact quote I was referencing was "We should beat Norwich".

Norwich have won 4, drawn 3 and lost 9 home matches
We have won 2, drawn 6 and lost 8 away matches

I'm one of the more optimistic posters around here, and there is no way that we should win this game.
But yes on current form we do have a chance, but i would settle for a draw.
