Isn't it time to recognize Nigel Adkins as one of few new great English managers?

In 5 years time (whether with us or not) Gus will have achieved more as a manager than Adkins.
Adkins has already had 3 promotions and is looking good for a 4th, has also won the Welsh league a few times (May only be Wales but it's still an achievement) so Gus has a long, long way to go.

Blinded by jealousy, Gus has spent more than Adkins yet you thought Poyet was the best thing since sliced bread until he has been shown up as a one trick pony, Adkins has a plan A, B, C etc Gus doesn't and until he develops that he will never be a top manager

Haha, alright love, calm down! Maybe a cheeky re-read?

So in 5 years Gus has to gain 3, maybe 4 promotions or equivalent, he'll get sacked or walk away from Brighton this season, then he won't get a great job as he's just not a very good manager, just because he was a good player, is foreign and got you promoted doesn't mean he'll get a top job. You lot really are clowns

Why would Gus need a load of league 1 and champ promotions if he is managing a top prem team? I'd rather have David Moyes than someone who has won a couple promotions from league 1.. Trophies don't mean everything.

How any Brighton fan can put up such a thread after his smug smile following the non-penalty for 2-0 yesterday is beyond comprehension!

Why are you continually talking about Gus on a discussion about Atkins ??? i don't get it ?

Management is a fickle business littered with next big things (Micky Adams being an example). If he can establish Southampton as a Premier League club he will no doubt be touted for bigger things but if they come straight back down and have a slow start then his job will be at risk.

Don't understand why anyone still thinks the England job is a step up from managing at club level. It's a shite job, too much pressure, no time to work with players and when you do have the players at your disposal, there are inter-club rivalries to deal with and many players who just don't care about playing for their country.

The England managers job ideally is for a manager in his 60's who has been there and done it and bored of doing the day to day coaching side of things and is more a good man motivator than he is a coach. Despite the fact I hate him, Redknapp is probably the best out of a bad bunch right now and the job should never be given to a younger manager.

He's done well for sure, with a big physical team that knows how to pass and also knows how to play a ball through to the front men.

Exactly

Good = without question
Great = steady on.

this is worth a remention too.

Although he is slipping down my hate list - or Billy Sharp , Roy Keane ,Alex Ferguson and co are rising higher

He's certainly failed to ruin the team that Alan Pardew left him. If that constitutes greatness ...

An albion fan has just started a thread saying how good Adkins is, and you say we're blinded by jealousy - did you read any of the thread?

A little early for you to be writing Gus off, he managed to win the title last year having spent less than you. As for who has spent more now, what's the total cost of each squad?

So please remind me. Who, out of Chaplow, Richardson, De Ridder, Do Prado, Cork and Hooiveld did Pardew sign? 5 out of yesterdays starting 11 were signed by Adkins, so hardly "the team that Pardew left him".

You don't have to like the guy to recognise his talent. He looks and sounds a smarmy sniveling git, but he is doing a great job at St Fairies. Nadkins has had much longer in management than Gus. But they will both become very good, if not great.

Adkins has been in management 5 years. How many for Gus? Genuine question, not a dig. I seem to remember him partnering Wise at Leeds ages ago.
