But the thing is, Swindon are a stupid little football club who have absolutely nothing to go for, so therefore take time at having a go at anyone else who does, Brighton are trying to get back into a status of honour (because frankly, when you have the fourth worst football stadium and are in league one the only real way is up) Tony Bloom is avid for this to happen, and thats what he's been doing, trying to find the right manager, hopefully Gus is that manager.

I've strongly disliked Swindon ever since their then manager Andy King slagged us off after the two play off games. They are quite a small, unimportant club though, theyre not in the same league of hatred for me as Southampton.

Living in Wiltshire, I personally hate Swindon for two reasons:

1. The only time I have been ejected from a football match was at the play off game. I had a ticket in the home end on my own. I asked to move to the Brighton end at half time as there were a few empty seats and I had a few mates from Sussex. The steward said "You have identified yourself as an away fan in the home end, I'm going to have to ask you to leave"!!. Unbelievable. I've seen fans who get in the wrong part of the ground being escorted to the right part hundreds of times. Why they couldn't do it for me will remain a mystery.

2. Swindon fans live in the past and still see themselves as a big ex-premiership club. Seriously, you talk to any Swindon and I guarantee that within 20 seconds they will mention their one (disastourous) season in the premiership, which was what 16 years ago now?! Try it. During the play offs in 2004 (?) just about every conversation I had with Swindon fans it was apparant that they felt it was their divine right to be in the final against Bristol City and that it was their destiny they were heading back to "where they belong". Which is of course is what happened, because they were relegated to League 2 the next season. Ha Ha.

For those reasons, I will always have my own personal rivalry with Swindon. Hate them.

Funny really when you think about it, here we are, with a number of comments such as "They are quite a small, unimportant club though" etc, when their record over the past is not so different, just 4 places below us in the "all time" results/winds/goals/points stakes, and they've won the League Cup, a proper trophy, and they've played in the Premier League.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't suggest they are in any way a superior club to the Albion, but in reality, they are in fact pretty much the same as us from a historical and success point of view.

Fair comment. I don't know why particulay but I've always thought of them as a mickey mouse club. Mainly I think because their ground is a shit hole and the town itself is a dive and completely insignificent

Gillingham hate you for similar reasons as to why Swindon fans don't like us much. We beat you in the play-offs, game abandoned when you were 4-0 up, and now we're pinching one of your best players. We had a similar thing with Reading a few years back, a club we've never got on with historically.

The difference is that unlike Swindon and Brighton, Gillingham haven't got proper rivals so they desperately try and irritate fans of other clubs in an effort to generate some interest in their two bob club.

The same goes for Bournemouth, and to a lesser extent, Charlton.
