Agreed, after two terms "Power Corrupts"
but we do not need a so called "Blue/Green nasty politician" such as Cameron to take over.

The sooner Gordon Brown assumes the Labour leadership, the better.

Very anti stadium, they want us to stay at shitedean.

NOT true.

Stadium: good news for fans but big task to minimise environmental impact
28 October 2005
Brighton and Hove Green Party statement on the announcement of Government approval for planning permission for a community football stadium for Brighton and Hove Albion FC at Falmer on the South Downs:

Councillor Keith Taylor, convenor of the Green Party group of councillors on Brighton and Hove City Council, said: “We are pleased that the fans will get a local stadium and accept the decision that John Prescott has made in his role as Secretary of State.

"There is still much work to do before the project can go ahead, notably around ensuring minimal impact on the countryside and that adequate public transport services are provided.

"We must also make sure that if tax-payers' assets are invested in the club our investments are both safe and sound. The Greens will play a very active role in these processes.”

The Greens' statement was issued after confirmation today of planning approval from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and follows two separate refusals by planning inspectors at public inquiries.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
I wish people would stop calling it Shitdean! I used to live there

I remember reading that the Greens were not anti the stadium, but wanted it to be carefully and properly controlled. That surprised me, I assumed they would have been against it. (Never make assumptions, LI ;) )

They were, however, very vocal in the primary stages and one wonders whether they are trying to be seen as the popular vote.

We have two socialist party councillors here in Coventry and to be fair to them they work damned hard. I am not too keen on their marxist ideology but they will probably get my vote as I know they will defend the interest of the hard working people in my area. It is also a protest vote against Labour.

This government is the worst government of all time. Thatcher was a heroine comapred to Blair. I do not believe a word the bloke says.

Cameron is the future

There's a lot to be said for the American policy of a maximum 2 consecutive terms for the political leader.

Thatcher lost the plot in Term 3 and now Blair is doing the same. With precious few decent Labour cabinet ministers and plenty of buffoons the Tories have a real chance of winning the next election.

Blimey, has it really happened, my word, I think it has, I actually agree with Pavilionaire. I need to go and sit down and rethink my life :(

No problem with that.

Given that Cameron seems to be modelling himself on B.Liar, how exactly does he equate to the future ?

I detest this government for its right-wing policies, it's authoritarianism, it's war mongering and a host of other issues but so far it has not given us 15% interest rates or 3 million unemployed.

I'm old enough to remember the governments of Heath (3 day week) Callaghan (Winter of discontent) and Major (Sleeze AND a failing economy).

Also they did not doggedly privatise anything that moved and the Tories should NEVER be forgiven for privayising the Railways, where the Govt subsidy has trebled with some of it going into Shareholders pockets.

I hate to shoot you down sire, but as someone who has been commuting between Brighton and London since 1987, I think I have some small degree of authority on the matter, the trains now are not pefect, but are 500% better than they were when I started, and the Government is not subsidising failure.

I'd get Cameron in on the basis you cant trust labour, and the lib dems cant even control the councils they run. Not the best way to vote, but better than not voting at all.

I have also been commuting between Portslade & London since 1985 and I would agree the Trains are much better BUT, this is not down to privatisation ! its down to the amount of investment that has gone into the Railways in the last 10 years.

If they had not been privatised, they would be even better now.

Labour are shit.

The fact they are still in power says alot about the opposition. Not happy with Labour at all (esp the stealth privitisation of the NHS) but still can't imagine voting Tory.. ever.. or Lib dem.
