Is anyone else WORRIED by us splashing cash?

What's £1.5m on players compared to £90m on a stadium? Funny how there's more concern about the transfer budget than there was the stadium. When I raised my concerns about the stadium funding I was cut down by a huge consensus that it wasn't a problem. The gamble seems to be paying off at the moment anyway - our revenue has gone through the roof. So who cares? Well I think we all should really, I think if our history tells us one thing its that we should question everything. At some time in the future unpopular questions should be asked about our future: What if TB loses interest? (He won't is not an acceptable answer) What if he needs the loan money back immediately? Are we budgeting for a sustainable future? Are we gambling on promotion? etc

Still, we should by deafult all be happy and trust the board. We know their intentions are good.

If TB wants out or needs some cash then he could sell some shares in the football club or stadium company or maybe even a majority in the entire stadium itself (assuming it's still set up as wnhen I last looked at CH). In the latter case the Club could continue and rent use of the stadium from the new owners but then it might well renting from Stadium Company now. What is/was your problem with the funding of the £90M capital investment - is it the scale, repayment, type of loan?

We were being referred to as "big-spenders" when we didn't spend any money, I dread to think what we'll be labelled as now

Leeds - but not the dirty bit
Should be OK, I think.

Disregarding any other revenue the income from the 1901ers should pay for quite a bit on it's own.

Seeing as we have a multi millionaire and a vastly experienced ex international at the helm I would hazard a guess that they know what they're doing. Neither is the remotest bit orange for a start.

With everything that TB has done so far, I have every faith in him knowing what he's doing.

Speculate to accumulate. If we did a Norwich we'd have a 40 million pound bonus this time next year and I, for one, don't discount that we MIGHT be capable of walking though this division, once we've assembled our new team.

Plan to accumulate and execute, I think. Mike Bamber's approach was to speculate, that's how he earned his living, and that started us on the demise road to Edgar Street. Perhaps if Keith Wickenden hadn't been killed so early, he might have prevented the mistakes but all this seems ancient history now.
TB has had Marc Sugarman and Peter Franks on the Board since shortly after he took control of the Club, they are sharp cookies and the guy who was at Amex (Peter Godfrey) is clearly no time waster either.

I am not at all worried, if we overspend we can just copy Pompey or Palace, screw our creditors, then spend loads of money again. What's the problem? Not like this is a real company or anything.

....seriously, my only concern is that Gus is unproven in terms of splashing the cash, and that has been the undoing of many a manager in the past.....

What is becoming berry dear is that phoney tomb is thrilling to smack bus to the quilt.

I think its great. If we were splashing the cash on giving washed-up old sick-notes a final pay-day I'd be worried, but we're not, we're investing it in young players of great potential. It's building for the future. Or at least until next time Norwich come calling. Which in turn will give us a still larger war-chest to reinvest in even better players. And so it ramps up in a controlled fashion. That's the way to do it!

Ahh..but do you want to end up being Norwich's nursery club? Knowing the Norfolk tendency to keep things in the family, you might up being incest..sorry incensed by them tapping every good young player Albion produce in future.

I think that if you ( presumably not a successful multi millionaire businessman, or a world reknown former international standard footballer) can spot these little details, don't you thinki Bloom and Poyet would have got wind of them too???..... you seem to doubt them.

It's not so much that I doubt them, it's that I don't know them, personally. I don't know what sort of people they are. People talk about how TB must be smart to have been successful, but that's not always enough. Sometimes you have to be ruthless, and greedy. There are people who are addicted to risk, it's how casinos keep people hooked. They are generally the sort of people who take the extra risk, who get a good result and then rather than walking away think 'Could I do that again?' and they keep trying and they push it until they bust.

I don't know if Tony has that about him. Does he know when to say 'I've rode my luck'?

Being a world renown football player doesn't guarantee you will always get the right player or won't getinto the habit of paying too much for someone who was good at one club but might not produce for us.

Until recently couldn't Bill Archer be considered a good businessman? He made a lot of money, created a DIY empire, made shrewd investment in a football club and mae a hefty profit from it.

The business world is littered with businssmen who are very good at what they do, but you wouldn't want running your football.

Tony Bloom is a private man, as a consequence, I don't know if he is one of these or not. He's been in charge barely two years, fom what I've seen it seems he's one of the good guys, but I don't remember us always hating Belotti, Stanley and Archer (I could be wrong about that, but I genuinely don't remember any hatred to them when they joined, until the changing of the club charter and everything came out).

As to the person who talked so blasé-ley about giving up ownership of Amex, I don't believe not owning your ground is not a good position to be in.

as long as we keep on signing good young players at their market value how are we putting ourselves at risk, they will always have a future value...if we bring a 32 year old striker on a 3 year contract at silly money then I would worry but we are not going to do that.

Not in the least worried. I doubt any Chairman in football would understand the notion of "value" better than ours. You don't become that good at what he does otherwise. I think it's those that want to beat us that should be worried, don't you?

FFS, you need to relax... ALL the evidence so far is EXTREMELY positive in terms of us all putting our trust in Tony and Gus... you sound like someone who would NEVER be satisfied with ANY chairman, board member or manager... and, yes, I lived through the Archer years too... have faith...
