I have nothing but high regard for the town I was born in live in and will hopefully although not just yet die in. But parts of it a way overated.

Last I heard, EDO/ITT was a bona fide engineering and technology business creating local employment and generating income locally and nationally.

If EDO/ITT are breaking the law in the UK then surely Brighton hipsters should report it to the Police?

If Brighton hipsters want to ensure the UK does not have an arms manufacturing or exporting capacity then they should lobby their local MPs.

I'll remind you, again, that you did claim you'd back whoever the constituents chose to represent the Pavilion seat, even if it meant your precious Tory no hoper failed.

Rubbish! There is so much of this 'look at me I'm so different' culture in town nowadays its ridiculous, so much so that nobody is that eye catching anymore no one ever one turns a blind eye to the exotic and bohemian so nobody is making a massive statement because they are in Brighton. It is just a conurbation that has latterly become a twin City it hasn't even got an Ice Rink or a proper Sports Stadium (yet) it has it quirks and tolerance to certain cultures, but only in certain areas.

The sad thing is it's the faux pretension that has driven many real Brightonians away from town, people who have a massive heritage and ancestry in the town who now simply can't afford to live here. Why? Because Brighton is perceived by many as an almost exclusive club of haves and not many have nots. The infiltration of so many people from other area's has so vastly diluted the population of generations of real Brightonians that the town is beginning to lose it's historic identity.

Just calm yourself about Brighton being this uber capital of culture. What is a cafe culture? A seaside town with an abundance a cafes? Really how unusual. Free Art festivals with a University boasting and established Art College? How weird. Get a grip Brighton is just a place to be not 'the place to be.

For me my ancestors have been here since the mid 1800's how they would laugh now at what some new Brightonians think they are.

You'd have moved to Haywards Heath and have drunk at that shitty Burrell thing and had to stand on the train all the way up to London every damn day. All the bragging rights you may have somehow inherited by an accident of birth are more than offset by the fact that whatever vibe the town may or may not have is entirely wasted on you. Bit rich coming from someone who spends half his time sneering at others who don't live in as expensive an area of Brighton as you.

I don't buy this attempt to be a spokesman for an imagined underclass that Brighton Council and the arts and shops have somehow forgotten either.
