How Would You Improve The Ticketing System?

If a ticket is purchased on line could a system not be devised whereby upon receipt of the money the ticket can be either downloaded off of the website or sent via E mail from the ticket office. This could even happen with telephone sales if the purchaser had an email address. Does the technology allow this or is it too complicated, I do not know but I am sure others do.

Still needs to checked against something and I can't see barcode scanners being installed at Withdean.

Posted on another thread, but I think the answers will come from the people actually employed to do the job.

I still think that simply training other members of staff at Withdean to help out when needed is the answer. It really can't be that difficult to create temporary ticket collection points - or more crucially the ability and procedures to quickly set up temporary ticket collection points when needed.

There are two extra points readily available. The table they sell programmes from and the club van.

or
"Your brothers genitals have been shaped by the wind to look like Roy Walker..."

The turnstile operator then checks an alphabetical list, and PRESTO ! You are escorted from the premises and conveniently avoid a dull 0-0 draw with Tranmere.

I like your idea better....

The thing that puzzles me is that ticketing issues have been going on for season upon season now. If it isnt one problem it is another. Ever time, as is being demonstrated here, it is a simple solution and common sense which will resolve the situation. My question isnt how can it be improved, it is why does such a simple task keep failing repeatedly? Why? This is the question that needs to be asked to Ken `invisible` Brown.

crikey, all this hassle with just a 2,500* attendance..? imagine what might have happened if it was a 'big' game- with a late rush on tickets, would there have been enough stewards / police / ambulances to cope, if crowds tried to force their way in?

* is this figure the amount of tickets sold, or actual bums on seats? turnstile count would mean nowt if they opened the gates for all.

from what i have read on here, things certainly need to change FAST re booking & collection of tickets- its not like its the club's first time at withdean!

until they sort a proper booking system, anyone trying to call the club shop on the day if a match, and especially a couple of hours before ANY game, really need to be told they are too late - even with just a simple (and honest!) ansafone message..

will be interesting to see what bowlux the club comes up with, as an excuse.. gawd help us if the same technology gets used for 2012 olympics..


some ideas-
SEVERAL remote printers, for issuing tix at the ground..

proper phone booking system- not tin cans and bit of string..

4 hour phone/online booking cutoff, before match time- after this, take your chances at the ground..

outsource to ticketmaster, or a local agency that can actually handle such things.. pay couriers to deliver tix to pre-registered home/office address.

we're not in kansas anymore.

Employ more staff, and more competent staff, paying them more would help. For the crowds we are getting we do not need a state of the art system, just staff with their heads screwed on the right way round.

You simply have signs in place, bibs and someone by the main ticket collection point directing people where to go.

For stewards, directing people large amounts of people to the right point is part of their training.

All you need to do is train some staff how to do it, and be prepared to come off other duties to make it happen.

You have to remember how THICK some Albion fans are. There were several times last season when I was queing up to pick up a ticket before the game and the stewards were asking people their sirnames, in order to direct them to the correct queue (people seem incapapable of reading the sign) There were so many people who were rude to the stewards and refused to give their name or initial. "What's it got to do with you jobs worth" being the favourite line

Everyone is blaming the club, but if people have to book their tickets so late that they have to collect them, they should at least turn up early to collect them

Any answer less than 45 minutes will be met with howls of derisive laughter - as that is how long it would have taken last night has Ken Brown not opened the gates.

Not EVERYONE can turn up 45-60 minutes early to collect their tickets, nor should they have to. Work and travel are always a factor for evening games in particular. It might be easy enough for YOU to roll up to the ground nice and early, if you live locally or don't have work commitments. But not everybody has that luxury.

I agree 45 mins is a bit much, but if people turmed up ealier, there would not be such a queue. I regualry have to queue at away games (where there are often many more turntyles) but accept that as my fault for staying in the pub until just before kick off.

Not sure if it still does, but tickets did used to advise you to arrive 45 mins before kick off?

I know EVERYONE can not turn up 45 mins before the game, but I am sure a huge % of ther people in that queue could have either bought the ticket in advance OR turned up earlier.

There hae been times in the past when I have had to queue, due to arriving late, but I accept that as my fault as I only decided to book on the day

They have 2 booths already which in the past have been utilised as your surname suggestion above. As I walked past clutching my advance purchase ticket only one booth was open, although I understand that the second booth was eventually opened up as well. A major contributory factor reading through the threads on here was that the tickets had not been sorted into alphabetical order.
