I've made £2500 flogging off redundant tat on ebay in the last 6 weeks . . . . I'd imagine Tony can better that. . . , and he won't have spent half of it on a pair of hi fi speakers and an exhaust for his scooter.

I'll say £30m + any sale revenue A striker is the only real 'need'

Lockdown has been a blessing for me. Like you say ebay has been wonderful. I couldn't keep up with demand. I could have made a small fortune if i had unlimited supply of aquatic plants. I could also fetch a much higher price. The only downside was Royal Mail. So many sellers lost money due to late or non shows of items. I bet compensation at Royal Mail is at a figure they could never imagine. I fully expect stamp prices to rise very shortly.

My sales have completely slowed down now to almost a halt.

Covid19 has cost every club. In the Premier league the loses will simply be swallowed up by billionaire chairmen and business as usual.

Regardless of all the noise about losses for Bloom i still stand by my prediction he will spend around 50 million. The simple fact is he needs to.

With the Knockaert money, that wouldn't surprise me.

For a long time, both under Hughton and otter, the midfield has been our weakness. They rarely boss games, there isn't really anybody there who can seize a game by the scruff of its neck a la Gerrard, de Bruyne, Vierra, etc. Further, they don't score goals and they're not in the habit of moving box to box and bursting into the opposition penalty area with real intent, a la Lampard or Scholes.
The big question is, how well will a midfield of Bissouma, Alzate and Molumby, with the likes of MacArgie and Trossard ahead of them, fill that void? Maybe with an experienced old hand like Lallana (is he going to be on a free?) - wonder where the recruitment team and GP's thoughts are on this................... Cold see some regulars leaving through the exit door. leaving enough money for a half decent striker. Talking of which, is or is not Andone still on the books?

No chance in hell in pulling in 35 million on academy players or with fringe players. Unless a prize asset is sold then we don't have much to offer. The only player worth money who will be shipped out is Duffy. It's harder to try and offload unwanted fringe players who on a fair whack to go elsewhere and probably take a pay cut. Somebody on here said 10 million for Stephens. This is football manager :lolol:

Look at the players we have shipped out Locadia,Andone,Suttner,Greyhound etc none of these we have sold on. Might of got a loan fee but more than likely cut our losses to get them off the payroll.

Maybe you're right mate. I think we'll sell Montoya, Bernardo, Duffy, Propper, Gross, Ali J and Muzza plus some of the more senior of our youth team, Gyokeres, Walton, Ostigard amongst others. Should get a good few quid there.

I might be wrong about the names and the figures just mentioned ..... But the point i'm making is that I think we'll see a change of recruitment strategy. In the last few years, we've signed a large number of players in the £10m to 17 bracket. I think, we'll move towards fewer but hopefully higher quality signings, run a smaller first team squad with more emphasis on academy players stepping in.

Oh and I think we're due cash for Locadia

It's been widely reported that Walton will be coming back to be the backup GK next season.

Also find it interesting you think we will sell Propper (started 92% of games this season) and Gross (started 78% of games this season).

Totally agree.

Our midfield as a whole needs a bit of a refresh. The last thing we need is old hands blocking the path for Molumby and Alzate.

That doesn't mean booting them all out at once, but we do seem a bit overloaded with older mainstays.

If we could get Lallana it would be excellent. Molumby to get a chance as well. Maybe we'd look at Glen Kamara from Rangers again.

As someone posted else where, the club has stated a goal of top 10 down the line, that doesn't happen without investment. This summer could be the cheapest you get players for sometime!

The problem is really whether they are wanted by other clubs. Hence I don't think the contract prices will be as much as some may think.

Is it the 45m Leeds are paying us for Ben ?

Hold on, I thought we were trying to sign him. Mind you, I can't seem him coming to a team like us.

Probably a spend of similar transfer windows.

However this time we will have some sales to offset some of the spend, I expect Duffy, Ali J, Stephens and Bernardo to raise some funds for the new LB, Lallana, Maitland-Niles and a striker.

Controversial, but don't think we will be spending any more money then we receive. Our long term strategy is to utilise our academy and with the current financial situation, think that will be the plan. Don't think we can keep asking Uncle Tony for dosh. So think we might get 30 million for some of our fringe players, so that will be our buying budget. With White, Mollumby back, just need that new striker and attacking midfielder and we should be ok for a top 10 challenge.

Pacy LB? I think Burn has done a great job but he is not a specialist LB and we would definitely need one to harbour any hopes of top 10. I doubt anything more than mid table will be next season’s aim though so we may continue to make do there. Bernardo is obviously not rated, although I don’t understand why, it’s not like he’s had a run under GP.

I am not expecting a big spend either so won’t get my hopes up for a recognised PL striker this transfer window.

We need to prioritise a CF and LB.
The midfield does need upgrading but I should think they’ll be hoping Biss, Molumby, Macallister and Alzate will step up.
I’d be happy with a clear out of the likes of Ali J, Locadia, Montoya, Steele, Button, Bernardo, Murray ,and Duffy. Most would go on loan. If we could get decent Money for Propper (£15m) I’d take it.
I’d keep March and Gross (just about) and give Andone another chance. I’d keep Stephens but more as back up. In gritty games he is still effective. I don’t think we played enough gritty, backS-to-the-wall, take-a-point, games this season (particularly before lock down).
I think we will spend about £40m and in the future we will increasingly rely on our development players and not big signings. This is fine....if they’re of Ben White-standard.

Think, we have one, Bernardo, no idea why he does not get a chance. Potter seems to prefer Burn there. Think if White plays next year, then we may do 3 at the back and Bernardo fits better to that wing back role. Not many people have been mentioning Jayson Mollumby, think he will be a starter next year and maybe Stephens long term replacement. Get that striker and I will be happy with that.
