As I'm still a young 'un, only number SIX for me. One of my earliest football memories is Mexico '86 and MARADONA shattering my schoolboy dreams into a million twisted shards. How can you expect to grow up well adjusted after witnessing such HORRIFIC injustice at such a TENDER age?

Anyway, how about YOU? How many time have you had your football HEART broken?

1978 was my first although i can berely remember it at the age of of two, again 1982 doesn't really stick in the mind but 1986 I can still remember clear as day, it was also my first completed PANINI album (which i still have somewhere).

:)

9 have happened during my lifetime, but I don't remember anything of '74, '78 or '82. I was aware it was going on in '82 but wasn't really into football then. First clear memory of watching a World Cup and caring (a lot!) about what happened was therefore '86.

So this'll be the sixth. Blimey.

1966 I was 8 at the time and we flew out to South Africa just after the WC.

1970, we were in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, sailing back from South Africa with a load of people with transistors listening to the Quarter Final vs west Germany - I remember being 2-0 up and people being very happy - but then after the game a lot of unhappy people muttering and drinking.

Yeah, should have said the first one you remember. I was around for Spain '82, but was too busy shitting my pants and wetting the bed to be bothered about football.

Technically I was around for the 78 and 82 world cups but the first one I actually remember was 86. I never really watched 94 much as I was too depressed that we weren't there (I wasn't around for our 70 - 82 spell).

So this will be the 6th! Which mean I vote 5.
I think

I vaguely remember Mexico 86, althought being 8 at the time I think I remember collecting the stickers more than the actual football.

Italia 90 was the first big one that I really remember watching all the games. Seem to recall I had a mini Italia 90 football that you could get free with some coca-cola.

I can vaguely remember the 1986 World Cup as a seven year old, so I've seen five World Cups so far.
