I shouldn't moan really. I get to live in Sydney, travel all round Asia, am basically my own boss, and earn excellent cash. But I can't say I particularly enjoy my job really.

It's the top brass in the US who I can't stand. Greedy :censored: ers the lot of them. Our CEO has got paid $3m in two years & has cut our revenue to 25% of its level it was when he took over. And he's a fat ginger.

Interestingly one board member just quit - General Wes Clark - as he's running for President. Good riddance you useless :censored:

Across the pond
Love what I do, I'm my own boss, keep my own hours and get to play with bits of wood.
People here tend to have a bit more disposable income, and I help them dispose of it.

Far be it for me to go around making assumptions on your behalf or dispensing advice, but I'd consider speaking to an employment counsellor or similar to help you through the move because switching from one company to another after such a great length of time may not be as easy as you think. I found it quite difficult when I was in a similar position a few years back. Looking back on it, it would have been helpful to have had somebody to help me prepare for it. Good luck!

its ok! - can think of worse things!

I work for myself, and truly cannot complain about it.
If I don't like a particular client or job I can just walk.
I get up for work - or go home - whenever I like.
I have alternative means of income, so I can work at home or 'on location'.
I take my dog to work with me.
I'm out in the sunshine most of the day.
I get to go sailing practically whenever I want to.
Nobody tells me I'm late, not going fast enough etc.
It's all invaluable experience.
The finished job is usually pretty rewarding.

Jeeez, i hate happy people.

:)

No, not a massive fan of my job. Its always been my ambition to impregnate a rich woman, do some housework, raise a child and write my novel. Unfortunately, i would have to be one hell of a shot to get anyone up the duff at the moment.
So, i, literally, beaver away at my desk, disliking colleagues and drifting into fantasy. This morning i was thinking of myself as a sheriff in the internet porn world i inhabit. I march into some desolate town handing out chinese burns to paedophiles and the physically depraved.
But its not all bad.
:)

somewhere between being ok/paying the bills and sucking big time.

I might start looking again in the new year

My job has some pros and cons.

The pros being that it pays reasonably well for someone my age. And the people here are also great to work with. I work in the city so nearly every Friday night we all go out and get smashed. I've become good mates with some of the people here.

The cons are:
The management are incompetent, and it is really demoralising to see such stupid decisions being made over and over again.

Most clients are real deadbeats who don't deserve to exist, although I have recently moved to a different area so things are much improved here.

And the job itself is really boring and repetitive.

The cons far outweigh the pros, and I am actively looking for a transfer at minimum and another job in another place altogether at best. I am really sick of this place, I am willing to take a pay cut to go somewhere remotely more interesting.

I work in residential property research in London. We have a footie team in the surveyor's league. Company I used to work for has Kev Campbell's brother (he plays upfront but is smaller, same style of play though to his brother but his size ruled him out of getting anywhere as a pro) playing centre forward.
Work is interesting, surveyors are thick so it's easy to appear intelligent to colleagues.

My jobs ok, fluctuates depending on how idiotic our sales monkeys are being . . .pays ok, but not what I'd call good, travel all over the place is quite good, although the journey to the office is tedious, T's&C's are ok I guess, I like the work I do but would like to work from home a few days a week, which would be perfectly possible

If I didnt need the money I'd be doing something completely different . . . .unfortunately hobby-jobs in my case dont pay a decent salary!

My current job used to be fantastic - great people - not too stressful - well paid, until they split us all up....

now it sucks big time... but I'm working on changing it - hopefully soon - I'm stuck at this company though because of my visa, but hopefully will find another company Brighton way who won't mind changing it, as I'm such a well rounded, intelligent and charming individual that any company would want me as an employee...

and its a good time to get off my arse and do a few other things with my life - need a kick up the pants I do sometimes...
