To help stop all managers complaining about a midwinter fixture backlog, clubs to be allowed to arrange Sunday League-style double-result fixtures for league and cup.

So, if two sides are in the same division and have drawn each other in a cup tie, they can play the one game for BOTH the points for the next scheduled league fixture between the two sides that season and for qualification for the next round of the cup.

Obviously, to avoid any shenanigans like the Plymouth postponment last month, of course they'd ideally announce all this pretty much as soon as the draw came out.

I know it's a bit Americanified, but if this did happen, it'd hopefully encourage the likes of Ferguson and Wenger to take cup competitions more seriously as well.
