Have you ever been sacked?

Once, in my first job after leaving school.
They asked me back while I was working my notice - after they found that the genius straight outta Uni who was replacing me, was a layabout and couldn't do what he was supposed to be highly qualified for!

I left a couple of weeks later, in my own time, as I no longer trusted my employers.

I was made redundant a couple of times...once from a Book Publishers in Lewes where I was made redundant on the Wednesday, I was then phoned up the day after by the bloke who replaced me( Not redundancy then was it :jester: ) asking me to come in and tell him how he should do my job........****....I told him where to get off and he mentioned that my pay off had not yet cleared the bank and could be stopped and also I had use of the company vehicle ( which I was buying anyway) and that could be revoked.

So I came in at 10 to 12 and left at 25 past one.

Trouble is the bloke was a really nice guy and had been dropped in it.It was the owner who was a shit

Came very very close once when i was at WHSmith , i just didn't give a sh1t and basically blagged my way to department manager. did as little as possible skived about in the stock room, turned up pissed for work most days ( was only 19 and spent most of my time on the p1ss with my mates most mights down Rutherfords) eventually a new store manager came in and said if i didn't sort myself out i'd be out, I decided i best resign as there was no way i was going to get back into it.

Did teach me a lesson though as i ended up temping in this post factory for 6 weeks realised then how good a job i'd had Since then though all done very well in general.

I was working at the Legal & General in Hove and got asked to leave early on my last day for taking about 10 biros and some pencils.

They were arses! Up themselves, managers, who hadn't got that far in 10 years working there! I saw one of them in the Event ( :nono: ) about 6 months later and he queue-barged me at the bar. :tosser:

yes from Zenith Windows in Worthing, I turned up 10 minutes before my shift, instead of 15 minutes. They were ALL sat outside smoking and came in and saw I had come in, and said because i wasnt there in due time, I should go home [i was on "30quid a shift" kind of thing as opposed to contract], so i called her a fat bitch and asked her to post my P45, that was in the school holidays :lolol:

once my boss called me in to a meeting to discuss my continued absence ( due to gigging all the time all over the country, knocking off early, late in etc) he tried sacking me, I said I'd done nothing wrong per se but why don't you make me redundant as I don't want to work here and it'll not cost you anything. so the conversation switched to ' I'm sorry, but due to the drop off in work, we're going to have to make you redundant . . . marvellous

Sacked once, when I was about 20. Was working as an usher / food seller etc at the Odeon Cinema in Romford and got the push for swearing at customers and taking too many sickies. Was escorted off the premises and banned from the cinema. Kept sneaking back in afterwards, though.

It was such a laugh that job, we just mucked about all the time. The £2.99 per hour was a bummer, mind.

Nope not yet!! Well you have to commit murder at Sainsbury's to get sacked mind you. One shift i sat in Starbucks for a good 2 hours and drank free hot chocolates. Not bad for what was £9 an hour that day! :drink:

They tried to say I wasn't sacked because I was pregnant, but I knew damn well I had been and when it was looked into my then line manager and his boss had written emails about "getting rid of the pregnant one" etc. Assholes.

I have been sacked twice. The first time was in 1970 when expecting my son. I had to take a week off work when 12 weeks because I had a bleed. The boss just pushed a letter through my letter box saying that if I was sick then I was fit to do the job. There was no legislation in those days so there was nothing I could do.
The second time was two years ago when I was temping. The agency sent me to Ned's factory as a receptionist. I had been there for 4 days when Ned came to meet me at 5.30 to give me a lift home. He works shifts and was off that day. One of the directors came in and said,'We don't pay you to chat up your wife'
Ned replied, 'You're not paying me at all as it is my day off.'
The following day the agency were told I was not required there anymore.

I was asked to leave The Guardian as i was looking at my Hotmail. I'd only been there two days, carefully moving pieces of paper. Farewell, i yelled as i was gently escorted from their priceless building.

sacked from Liptons (supermarket) for coming to work with dyed orange hair and being too scruffy for the job in 1981 - was very pleased with myself and went back to college

Got made redundant by one firm although I knew it was coming, it was the way they went about it that annoyed me.

However, as I was their systems programmer I was able to plant a very simple bug that shut their machine down periodically. Took the a while to work out what had happened but as I had frigged the CPU date the time stamp was well after I left (as was the bug).
