Gus was hinting on Monday that we might complete the two he is confident of before Newcastle but you're right, not something you would hold your breath for given our track record

Wasn't the actual interview on Saturday, and he just said he'd hoped they'd come in this window?

Although it's been stated that the financial windfall from the upcoming Newcastle game won't filter down to Gus for transfers, it's conceivable that if we pull off another win and a decent draw that the purse strings will be looser at the start of next week, although it's cutting it very fine.

The NSC punters who state that are just guessing.

Since the closure of the 1st Sept window, the Albion have had unexpected windfalls including TV money from LFC and Newcastle, and shop/catering sales have far exceeded the club's wildest dreams, + some cash in for Steve Cook. In addition, the budgets built in Vicente's high pay, but most of his contract is based on appearances ... so a big saving there!

Conclusion - the Albion must have significant funds, if they do want to spend this January on the right players.

If any of the players mentioned in this thread get signed by Gus then frankly he is throwing Tonys money away, apart from Jordan Rhodes that is, But Tony probably isn`t looking to spend that kind of money.

So you don't think Jason Roberts would improve our team then and would be a waste of money?

Open to interpretation as ever but this is what the enigma that is Gus Poyet was quoted to have said in the arsegas:

Poyet remains optimistic about making a couple of signings, one or both possibly before the FA Cup tie against Newcastle.

He said: “Who knows if we can do any deals before Saturday? That would be amazing. To be able to play a new player against Newcastle would be great.

“We have got plenty of options listed in priority, based on the player, their availability, the price, the money we need to spend and the possibility of getting them now.

“That makes it a bit complicated, because there are players we would love to have and maybe we need to wait until the end of the week, which brings it closer to the 31st.

the 35 year old footballer who now commentates on radio 5 , he could anounce the scores at half time

Roberts miserable, & no-one-elses-view matters, tone, ruins 5live debates. (His predecessor Savage, had an hilarious charm).
Roberts spends months going on in his crusade against Suarez, even when the matter is dealt with, and so the programmes seldom get on to new issues that day.

Don't bring the media-bore down here!

No, the guy who was 34 today. 6ft 1in and who has played 12 times for Blackburn Rovers this season. Do you know another Jason Roberts then, or have you just got your facts wrong?

Am I missing the point here. What the f*** has his presenting and media skills got to do with the fact he is just what we need on the pitch. Experience at this level is one thing we are seriously lacking. He would be a fantastic signing.
