A very personal view as I’ve just tested positive, if any of you are in doubt or worry about your health, don’t go.

We hadn’t socialised in the last 10 days, but we went on holiday, wearing masks at all times indoors/on flights, when not eating or drinking. Imho I almost certainly caught it on the flights or in a restaurant.

So, in otherwise very compliant environments, with 99% of people playing ball.

Contrast that to UK trains, Albion park n ride or Amex concourses. Spot the mask.

[I’m not a lockdowns/restrictions obsessive, far from it, but this has been an eye opener. Our household’s work and other plans all thrown up in the air].
.

Shocked and sorry to hear this. You take care. By order of the peoples republic of NSC!

Get well soon Westie me old mucker, you’ll be right sooner enough.
Genuinely, take care

Have you swerved Covid from the beginning?

I have been very fortunate, yes. I’ve been sensible but not lived like a nun either. Only been to football once. Went to cinema in Nov. Been through London on underground and up down the country a few times on trains including last week. Went out to our company Xmas party last week and had a blooming good night out in the end, fabulous restaurant and pub afterwards. Also regularly visited local pubs and Xmas fairs etc. Going to Panto tomorrow too! Obviously I’m concerned, had my booster jab at weekend, but guess I’ve just been lucky so far. My biggest fear isn’t for myself, but passing on to my family. Think most of us tick that box.

On a scale of 1-10, ten being feeling normal, how are you today?

Not good, speedy recovery

Strangely the one time track and trace contacted us was when had been on holiday, either the flight or hotel I could only assume

With 10 being someone fighting for their life, a humble 3, first thing in the mornings 4 or 5. I wouldn’t be tapping away on nsc if very ill.

Can’t wait ‘til it’s gone.

It probably makes no short term difference, but I try to eat healthily, lots of fruit, veg, porridge, protein.

I did all the right things for our flight home eg passenger locator forms, linked to our planned day 2 pcr tests.

We were wondering, does everyone on our flight now get contacted?

I have no idea but it was the only place both myself and wife had been where next to people we didn't know for more than 15 minutes. Given it took a week to be contacted I would suggest everyone on the flight.

There was another ping alert we had over a year ago which we narrowed down to local Indian restaurant

Hope it’s mild and buggers off quickly

I was told they contact those seated in your row, and the rows in front and behind……..no idea whether that’s correct though.

I believe some of them but not all of them. Track and trace people don't say where the contact may have taken place though. My folks went to their holiday place in Spain recently and got pinged 3 days after their return. They don't go to pubs or restaurants since covid and get shopping delivered etc so presumably someone on their flight failed their 2 day PCR test.

Yes you could catch it through a mask . You could also catch it if someone spread the germs on to a hard surface and you touched it and then touched your mouth so washing your hands is also important.

Another transmission is rubbing eyes, which most of us do without even thinking. The virus stays live on hard surfaces for 1-2 hours.

I'd have been there, triple jabbed and mask wearing, driving and being careful. But tested positive LFT today so you'll all have to go without me. Please cheer them on to 3 points.

With the obvious increase of Covid cases due to Omicron, who is thinking of not going on Wednesday?
I am double jabbed and boosted, but am on the vulnerable list.
Personally, I have to sit on a ST coach for 50 minutes both ways as well as endure the queue for the Upper East loos and fight my way past the queues for the bar which blocks the depth of the concourse.
Family are all coming for Christmas eve and Christmas day, and after last years Xmas was cancelled (thanks Bungle***t) I do not want to risk catching anything that is going to ruin this year.
So Happy Xmas all of you that are brave enough, stay safe and see you in the New Year

I am probably not going for precisely the same reasons as you.

All the best for a quick recovery. Will be dodging Wolves game too as 3rd jab not until Sunday. UTA

I'm still going. I'm double jabbed and am waiting to book my booster.

No way am I going to let this shite beat me and stop me from enjoying my life and one of the things I like doing the most, which is going to the football.

Had enough of feeling restricted. Life thunders by and I don't want to not live it anymore. Had enough of the negativity and fear being spread. As long as most take up the booster, then we should be OK.

I won't be letting it completely ruin my Christmas as it did last year either.

Will wear a mask on the train and concourse.

I have posted before to say that I caught Covid in July and despite being double jabbed ended up quite seriously ill in hospital for a week, an awful week of my life. Four months later I still don’t have my sense of taste back, and am getting checks and further tests on ongoing chest, breathing and throat problems. And I actually feel loads better now than I did until recently and am just about seeing a hope of recovery.

I sadly gave up my season ticket due to this though have been to a few games since. Have had my third jab and got tickets for Wolves and plan to drive, wear a mask, not linger in the concourses etc but really not sure whether to go or not. In theory my immunity is very high and before Covid I had no underlying health issues but still caught it badly in the summer despite taking loads of care and having not been on a flight or overseas in more than 18 months. If I catch the new variant I don’t know whether my immunity would help or whether, like last time, I would react worse to it than I could possibly have predicted.

The thing is no one knows. Maybe I was just unlucky but boy does it shake you up a bit.

I assume this is a spoof account to go fishing with but i will allow myself to be hooked because the message is important.

Good that you are triple jabbed but that does not give you full immunity and current thinking is it does not protect you from omnicron so you can get COVID and therefore you can spread it. The idea of masks is to act as another barrier to stop you catching COVID but more importantly to stop you spreading it.

Masks aren't 100% protection either so by using both you are restricting chances of being a spreader.

Wasting your breath. If after nearly two years of this pandemic crap Baldrick still spouts ill informed crap then a few lines on a football forum isn't going to convince him otherwise. Hopefully others don't need to be convinced as they already know.

Well the Manchester United vs Brentford game scheduled for Tuesday evening has just been binned. Not sure how many Covid cases United have but I guess that means our fixture there on Saturday is most likely off too? Wait and see what happens regarding our game against Wolves on Wednesday now.

My grandfathers and great fathers were at the front in the first and second world wars. They knew being at the front was not risk free. They were at the fronts enduring the wind, rain and snow. Life isn’t risk free. So yes I could spread a virus by not wearing a mask but can someone catch the virus if they are wearing a mask . It comes down to accepting personal responsibility and accepting life isn’t risk free.

Good for them. I guess you're also going to claim they were both volunteers rather than conscripted and I assume once in the forces they had no choice but to go where they were ordered. I'm also guessing they carried a gas mask just in case and if needed, would have put them on rather than standing up and breathing in the noxious air whilst chanting 'life is not risk free'!!

Yes, you can catch the virus when wearing a mask because the air particles can enter your system via your eyes!

Well, your booster isn't active for two weeks, so if you're concerned for yourself then give it a swerve.
If you are concerned for others, give it a swerve
If you are concerned, but can act sensibly, then wear a mask, don't hang around the concourse, get a lift to the ground or walk, and go.

That's my view. Don't know if it helps.

However, football matches have tended to be the places where I've seen the least sensible behaviour when it comes to transmission.

Not quite true. Your protection starts increasing within days of the booster but does not reach it's peak until two weeks.
