Forster at Brentford

How can it have been a mistake to let Forster go? Did our form suffer, did we go on a losing run, did we slide down the table?

His loan to Charlton was announced March 26th.

Our next game was march 27th, and our form to the end of the season was:

WDLLDWWDW

That first win (on the back of two previous wins) put us 14th, we then dropped a couple of places after the next couple of matches, then back up to 14th to end the season.

I think our results were essentially the same for the preceding 9 games: 4 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses, but those 9 games coincided with a clear climb up the table (though with a couple of dips on the way up).

You implied it. You said as soon as Forster left we started playing good. What is your point?

 I didn't imply it at all.
My point being how can people possibly say letting Forster go is Poyets "biggest mistake so far" When in fact we haven't really missed him at all

We did miss him. We struggled badly for goals. ??? But we got lucky in that Barnes has a happy knack of popping up with some important goals, and we scored enough goals to finish the season well.

).

But when was the last time he actually played, look at that and then tell me the results weren't better overall than the games he played in.

I hope doesnt be a prick if he does score against us. He needs to realise how much the fans have been behind him but he shouldnt have no reason to celebrate like a twat.

If someone got rid of you at work and you went back wouldnt you you stick two fingers up at them if you did well
and as you see there still a few idiots on here that slag him

:albion2:As for Murray and Forster not getting on another story far from the truth they socialise now still

where does that come from, seeing as how Charlton are skint and very much doubt we would have to tried to flog our top striker to a promotion rival

Its a fact .it was to get their centre half before we signed Greer ,but he will be on his way

just by saying its a fact does not make it a fact. Where is the proof bar your word? Greer was always the top target it was going on for months. If we wanted someone from Charlton sure we would have put in a bid as they are struggling financially

Just to clarify, I was posting for info, only. I don't think getting rid of Forster was a mistake, per se. I think he could have offered us something on the pitch, at least, but I don't think the results after he left last year are the sort you'd get if it was a mistake, and I don't think we are going to fail this season because we don't have him.

He was first dropped for Orient Game (February 6th) From then:

ddld

Forster then returned (Murray fell ill) v Charlton, which we won.
He was not used in the following game v Exeter (home win).

And I'm at work so don't have time, but I have at home which games he played, so will give more detailed info then, but I remember him being an occasional sub until he left. So, after exeter our run was:

dlwwwdlldwwdw

I'll give more details later.

You've changed what you said, you said as soon as Forster left our results improved. That kind of implys that we are better off with out him, i don't think we are because we could really do with his goals.

Sorry so you are saying Murray is moving to Charlton. That is probably the most ridiculous rumour ever. Firstly, whats in it for him. I doubt they can pay him more wages and he probably has a better chance of being in the top six with us as they are struggling financially. He also does not get the move back up north he supposedly longs for. This is ignoring the question of where they are going to get the transfer fee from (as we would at least want a profit on the £300K we paid).

gus chose him as a specific target to get into the club and a striker we got in who scored goals, so "lucky" in fact that gus himself said he didn't want to play him at the end of the season so as not to increase his potential value. incidentally - when were we mathematically safe from relegation? oh yes it was after we got rid of fozzie.........

When you combine the starts and sub appearances there's no difference in the points per match average. (well, there's a .00303 difference, but that is so small it's irrelevant). When he comes on as a sub we are worse off, when he starts we're better off, by 0.02 (meaning a need for 50 games before it gives us an actual point).

So, my conclusion is that Forster makes no difference. We're not better off without him, we're not worse off without him. He doesn't play so brilliantly he raises the results of the team, he isn't such a negative influence on the changing room that he brings the team down.

*For simplicity, points were averaged even if the win was a cup game as a representation of the merit of a win.

Doubt he will score more than 12 this season in a struggling Brentford team.

So Gus wants rid of Murray? That's what you are suggesting by saying he was 'offered to Charlton'

such a solid rumour that the player concerned doesn't even get mentioned? Presumably Llera and if I can unjumble the garbage it appears likely that we offered 300K for him and they said "no but you can have him for Murray plus 150K". Presumably at that point Gus fell on the floor laughing and then got back up and returned for Greer.

All of that would make perfect sense. Llera would be a good signing and you couldn't blame Charlton for trying it on. However if that is the case we obviously didn't "try to offload Murray".

But hey, as he is clearly a player you have a down on why not just carry on dissing him any way you can.........................
